The April 26, 2010 meeting of the Health and Public Safety Committee of the South Bend
Common Council was called to order by its Chairperson Council Member Karen L. White at 4:26
p.m. in the Informal Meeting Room, 4~h Floor County-City Building, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., South
Bend, Indiana
Persons in attendance included:
Committee Members: Ann Puzzello, Vice-Chairperson; Henry Davis, Tim Rouse
Other Council Members Present: Derek Dieter, Tom LaFountain, David Varner, AI Kirsits,
Oliver Davis
Others Present: Mayor Luecke, Gregg Zientara, Gary Gilot
Agenda: BILL NO. 04-10 AMEND CODE CHAPTER 9, ARTICLE 4 ADD
SECTION 21 PROVIDING FOR EXTINGUISHING NUISANCE FIRES
UPON DIRECTION OF THE FIRE CHIEF
Chairperson White announced the sole bill on the agenda, Bill No. 04-10, was requested by its
sponsor, the SBFD, be stricken. Action to do that would be required at the evening meeting.
Under miscellaneous, Karen reminded everyone about the off-site meeting of her committee
schedule for tomorrow Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is to be held at
Kennedy Academy to discuss the proposed Animal Control Shelter.
Also under miscellaneous, Councilmember Oliver Davis showed pictures of the graffiti problem in
his district.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time, Chairperson White
adjourned the meeting at 4:30 p.m.
