ORDINANCE NO. ~ ~ ~ ~°~~ 1
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, APPROPRIATING TWO MILLION DOLLARS ($2,000,000.00) FROM
URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT FUND N0.410, AND ALLOCATING ONE
MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) TO POTAWATOMI ZOO AND ONE MILLION
DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) TO THE KROC CENTER
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
Within Urban Development Grant Fund No. 410 are monies paid back to the City by the
Business Development Corporation pursuant to agreement. These monies constitute
miscellaneous revenue of the City's Urban Development Grant Fund. This Ordinance
appropriates Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00) of those funds as follows:
One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) to be used for South Bend Potawatomi Zoo repair
and improvements; and
One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) to be used for the Kroc Center.
Both uses are in the best interest of the City and are appropriate under the terms of the Urban
Development Action Grant regulations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA as follows:
Section I. The sum of Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00) is hereby set aside and
appropriated within Urban Action Grant Fund No. 410 as follows:
a. One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) for Potawatomi Zoo repair and
improvements; and
b. One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) for the City's agreed contribution to the
Kroc Center project.
Section II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by
the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Re: Ordinance Appropriating Urban Grant Funds for Potawatomi Zoo and the Kroc
Center
Dear Mr. Rouse:
Attached is an ordinance for consideration by the Common Council which
appropriates two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) from Urban Development Action Grant
Fund No. 410 for use by and distribution in equal one million dollar ($1,000,000.00)
sums to Potawatomi Zoo and the Kroc Center. The monies to be appropriated in Fund
No. 410 consist of loan repayments to the City by the Business Development
Corporation. This appropriation as proposed is consistent with the Urban Development
Action Grant regulations, and is in the best interest of the City.
The Council's approval of this ordinance is requested. I will present the ordinance
to the Council at its Committee meeting and at the public hearing.
