Board met in` special session at 9:00 A.M. All memberspresent.
Matter of a contract with the Else Co.' for lights in-Srinnymede
Addition disoussed'with Mr. Qualls and Mayor Seebirt. Mr. Qualls instructed to take
this matter up with Elea. Company. ,
. Bids were received., opened and read for water connections on Talbot
Avenue from Howard Street to South Bend Avenue. Bids were submitted by Wit. H. Burke
and. Rocco Simeri, also on Parkevash Avenue from Lafayett* -Street to IrogVois Street,
Referred to Engineer for tabimlation to be reported at 7:15 P.M. this 27th. day of May
1925.
Bids were submitted by Hibberd Printigg,Company and ,Peterson Prtg.
Company on Ordinance for fund for Cenjetery Lots. Contraact awarded to. Hibberd. Prtg..

Board met in regular session at 7:15 P.M. All members present.
Hearing had on resolution for pavement on Twenty first Street from
Mishawaka Avenue to Pleasaht Street as provided in Improvement Pesolu�ion No. 1488
In the above matter a remonstrator appeared but no written remonstrance was filed.
After hearing, the Board decides that the benefits to property,littble to be assessed
for said improvement, are equal to the estimated cost of the same, and the Board thereto
now confirms the said resolution. Date for receiving, opening and considering sealed
proposals for the construction of said improvement fixed as June 16th., 1925 at
10:00 A M and notice thereof ordered published as provided by law.

Portage Avenue to Lawndale Avenue as provided in improvement Resolution No. 1486,
No remonstrators appeared and no remonstrance filed. lProperty owners appeared and
discussed matter of sewer in first block, same to be put in by private contract. )
Adtter hearing, the Board decides that the benefits tomproperty liable to be assessed
for said improvement, are equal to the estimated cost of the same, and.the Board.therefo
now confirms the said resolution. Date for receiving, opening and considering healed_
proposals for the construction of said anti improvement fixed as June 16th., 1925 at
10:00 -A.M. and notice thereof ordered published as provided by law.
This being the date set for the deferred hearing on roll of awards
of damages and assessments of benefits for the Opening of a street from Colfax Avenue to
Lincoln Way West, and from Marion Street to °Navarre Street (.Known egad as Wiliam St.
under Condemnation Resolution No. 8-3. Ira, tahe above matter remonstrators appeared but
no further written remonstrance was filed. Afterheaaring all parties present said
hearing is how continued until Wednesday June 10th.9 1925 at 7:15 P.M.

1925 for Blvd. lights on Rose Street and Kessler Blvd, Blvd. Lights not being
extended except on Boulevards of any. Filed.
In re: Comp"int about tree which is in way of lamp Post in front of
918 Diamond Avenue, Reports tree to be cut.down or'lamp post moved to north side
of driveway. Reported to Board that John Nihart lot owner agrees to remove
tree.in fall of 1925 and meantime to protect and bear expense of breakage of
globes.
Do not recommend installation of light at 31st Street and Pleasant
Street.' Recommendation approved.
A 100 C. P. Light ordered installed at intersection of alley running
.east and west, and laying between Franklin Street and William Street and south of
Division Street.
Partial -estimate No. 1 for grade curb and walk on Wayne Street from
18th. St. to a line betwee west corners of lot 67 and 166 Sunnynede Addition

Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Talbot Avenue from
Howard Street to South Bend Avenue in pursuance to Resolution No. 1456 the
petition of freeholders residing on said street is considered, and the report of
the City-Engneer is received and all evidence is heard, and the Board of PUblic
Works finds that paid petitioners constitute a anjority in number of the free-
holders residing upon said street to be improved, and that said petition i`s buf-
ficient and it is therefore considered and adjudged that said improvement be made
with Sheet asphalt the kind -of pavement requested in said petition; and the City
Engineer reports that Albert Construation Company is the lowest and best bidder d
for said I nvement, and the .Board so finds,.and lets the conact for said improve
to him or them, end orders that said improvemenot

In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance
was filed. The Board therfore find that the property assessed in said roll filed
,Vay 19th., 1925-and May 20th., 1925 is benefited in the amounts as shown on said roll,
and the Board Further find,•that the assessment roll filed May 19th, and 20th.s 1925
and the final estim%te°aliowed May 19th.9 and May 20th.9 1925 should be and the same
are hereby in -all things ratified, confirmed and approved.

South Bend, Indiana.
The undersigned respectfully represents to your Honorable Board that
they have purchased.all of the real estate lying west of College Street to the New York
Central Railroad tracks between Werwinski Street on the north and Langley Avenue on the
South, exceptining 33-A&ID feet off of and from the south axrl o-f the four (4) lots
fronting on Langley Avenue, and that heretofore on the 15ti day of April 1925
your Honorable Board vacated the alley between Werwinski Street and hogAikgy Avenue -from
College Street to such New York Central Railroad tracks.
The undersigned would show that they have purchased said property
for the purpose of carrying on a coal business, and that they_ }lave _ entered_ into.._ _ __
negotiations with a hoisting company to build and construct heists and elevators to
noble them to carry coal from railroad cars and deposit it in elevators or silos, which
they contemplate building on such real estate; that in order to carry out their plan it is
necessary for them to construct a switch or spur track commencing 81 feet south of
Langley Avenue and extending across Langley Avenue and upon said real estate up to the
south line of Werwinski Street, which spur track or side track will be a total of 430
feet in lanth, all of which track and work is set out upon a blue print attached hereto
and prepareg by the Engione.ering Department 'of the New York Central Railroad, and they
now petition your Honorable Board for authority to extend said track across Langley Avenuf
a public street in the City of South Bend,'

the City of South Bend, over, upon and across.Longley Avenue as follows: Beginning at a
poin% on the south line of Langley Avenue feet east of the present track oif,the
New York Central Railroad; thence in anortheasterly direction across said.Longley Avenue
approximately parallel to the present tracks of aid. New York. Central Railroad, all accord
ing to the blue pf nt attached tothe petition for aid grant and as indicated t'hereae.,
This grant is made on the expressed condition that said track Across
Ipngley Avenue shall be constructed so as to eonfdrm tothe established grade

shall plank said street between the rails of said track adn for two (2) feet,en
the outside of the rails with plot k ' of less than Two (2) inches inthickness*,
