RE: Purchase of Demo Wirtgen Milling Machine
Central Services, on behalf of the City of South Bend ("City") Street Department requests that
the Board of Public Works ("Board") purchase a Demo Wirtgen Milling Machine ("Milling
Machine") Linder Indiana Code 5-22-10-5 at the cost of $435,000.
The Street Department is in immediate need of a new milling machine. The cost of the selected
demo milling machine is approximately $65,000 less than the cost of a new milling machine. The
selected Milling Machine has been identified and hand selected by our Street Department. The
amount of usage on the machine is minimal, only 378 total hours. Further, the Milling Machine
will come with a full warranty as if purchased new. Prior to submitting to the Board for award,
the City's Legal Department reviewed and approved the use of Indiana Code 5-22-10-5 to
purchase this item.
