Agenda: Bill No. 13-18- Alley Vacation-Emerson Street and
North/South Northside Boulevard and Hildreth Street
Committee Chair John Voorde called to order the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
meeting at 4:00 p.m. He introduced members of the Committee and proceeded to give the floor to
the presenter.
Bill No. 13-18-Alley Vacation-Emerson Street and North/South Northside Boulevard and
Hildreth Street
Murray Miller, 1201 Priscilla Drive, stated, I am here on behalf of the St. Joseph Valley Building
Trades Council. We are asking the valley be vacated to make some needed repairs to the alley and
our property. The alley will be accessible to the public any time.
Committeemember Gavin Ferlic asked, Has this been run by Public Works?
Mr. Miller replied, Yes, it has.
Committee Chair Voorde stated, I should have mentioned, the Board of Public Works gave it a
favorable recommendation based on reports from Engineering,Area Plan,Community Investment,
the Fire Department, the Police Department and Solid Waste. There was no remonstrance at the
Board of Public Works meeting.
Committee Chair Voorde then opened the floor to members of the public wishing to speak in favor
of or in opposition to the legislation.

Jason Pfledderer, 1805 Oliver Street, stated, I'm for it.
Committee Chair Voorde then turned the floor back to the Committee for further comment or main
motion.
Committeemember Ferlic made a motion to send Bill No. 13-18 to the full Council with a favorable
recommendation. Committeemember Jo M. Broden seconded the motion which carried
unanimously by a voice vote of three (3) ayes.
With no further business, Committee Chair Voorde adjourned the Public Works and Property
Vacation Committee meeting at 4:03 p.m.
