Dear Mr. Slaughter: $ The writer has been instructed by the Local Industries Committee of the Community Developement Committee of the Chamber of Commerce to supplement to you and. your Associates on the Board of Public Works the public action of the Committee as made before your Body, Wednesday evening, February 27th., in the matter of the proposed closing of SZz Peter Street: It is the unAnimous opinion of the Exautive Committee as well as than of the Local Industries Committee, that the protest against the closing of the Street is not based on fact and that failure to close the street at this time will work a hardship on the Westinghouse-Georga. Cutter organization in that their. proposed plans for expansion will not be possible; anal furthermore, it .is the. Committee's opinion, after careful study, and knowledge of the facts, that failure to close the street may result',in the loss. of this great industry to _this community. It is.the Committee's wish, representing as it does the various interests of this comnunity$ that yourself and associates on the Board. of PUblic Works will find it possible to close StJ Peter Street as projected.
