Board met in regular session, at 7-15 P. M. All members
present.
Due t6,:the large crowd, the meeting was adjourned to the
Council Chambers. -
This being the date set, hearings were had on the following
improvementresolutions:
Pavement of the first alley east of Clinton Street from Sample
Street tothe first alley north of Sample Street under improvement Resolution No.I965. I
Pavement of the first alley south of Riverside Drive from
Forest Avenue to Park Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.I967, j
Pavement of the first alley west of Park Avenue from River-
side Drive to first alley south under Improvement Resolution No.I968.
Grade and vralk on the north side of Calvert Street -from
Klin8 Street to Caroline Street under Improvement Resolution Noa•I970.
Local sewer on Lawton Street between Olive Street and Bendix
Drive under Improvement Resolution No.I972.
In all of the above named improvement resolutions, no re-
monstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed. The Board, being duly
advised in the premises, finds that the several lots and parcels of land liable to be
assessed for said improvements will be benefited in accordance with the estimated cost
of said improvements as reported by the City Engineer, The Board, therefore, takes
final action on said improvement resolutions, and declares same in all things ratified
confirmed and approved.
In the matter of the local sewer improvement on Lawton Stree
between Olive and Bendix Drive, tinder Improvement Resolution No.I972, the Board hereby;
orders that on the 22nd., day of November, I927, this Board will receive, open and i
consider sealed proposals up to I0:00 A. M. The Board further orders that notices of
said sealed proposals shall be published on the IIth., day of November and on the I8thl,
day of November, I927, in the South Bend News Times and Tribune according to law.
This being the date set, hearing was hadon the improvement
resolution for the construction of pavement on Chapin Street from Indiana Avenue to
Calvert Street under Improvement Resolution No.I97I.
In the above named improvement resolution, remonstrators
appeared but no ,written remonstrance was filed and the Board, being fully advised in
the premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable
to be assessed for said improvement will be equal to the estimated cost of same as
reported by the City Engineer. The Board, therefore, takes final action on sadd
improvement resolution No.I97I and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed
and approved.
This being the date set, hearing was had on the improvement
resolution for the grading of the first alley south of Calvert Street from Chapin Str
to Kendall Street under Improvement Resolution No.I966.
,In the above named improvement, remonstrators appeared and
a written remonstrance was filed and the Board being filly advised in the premises
decides to over rule said remonstrance and takes final action on said improvement
resolution, declaring same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.. Said
written remonstrance referred to City Engineer for final check.
The Board signed and approved the following Guarantee Bonds:
Guarantee bond for the pavement of alleys in Summit Place
Fifth Addition under Improvement Resolution No.I88I. Bond far $1,056.69 signed by
Metropolitan Casualty Insurance Co., in favor of Colpeart Co.
Guarantee Bond of the Williston Construction Co., for the
pavement on Woodside Street under Improvement Resolution No.I8I6. Bond for 2T8IO.03
signed by Inland Bonding (;o., signed and approved by the Board.
Guarantee Bond of the Willi stern Construction Co, for the
pavement on Twin Street under Improvement Resolution'No.I909 Bond for $1,659.47 signe
by Inland Bondin`; Co., approved by the Board.
Guarantee Bond of the Williston Construction Co., for the
grade, curb, walk sewer and pavement improvement on Medora• Street under Improvement
Resolution No.I945. Bo$d for $96I.31 signed by Inland Bonding Co., approved by the
Board.
Guarantee Bond of Williston Construction Co., for the pave-
ment on Oakside Street under Improvement Resolution No.I836. Bond for $3,'60$.67
signed by Inland Bonding Co., approved by the Board.

In all of the above named assessment rolls, remonstrators appeared
but no written remonstrance was filed and the Board, being duly advised in the premise
finds that the several lots and parcels of land primarily assessed for said improvemen
have been benefited in the amounts named on said primary assessment rolls. The Board,
therefore, takes final action:on said assessment rolls, declaring same in all things
ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed. The Board now orders
said assessment rolls delivered to the Department of Finance.
This being the date set, hearing was had on the assessment roll
for the pavement of Ewing Avenue from Miami Street to Leer Street under Improvement
Resolution No.I833.
In the above named assessment roll, remonstrators appeared but
no,written remonstrance was filed and the Board decides to continue hearing on said
assessment roll until November I5th., 1927, at I0 A. M.

In the above named assessment. roll, remonstrators appeared and a
written remonstrance was filed by Harry Polis. After hearing all persons interested
in said assessment roll, and being fully advised in the premises, the Board finds that

the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts
named on said primary assessment roll. The Board, therefore, takes final action on

said assessment roll, declaring same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved
and the proceedings closed. The Board now orders said assessment roll delivered to

City Engineer, Mr. H. G. N'Vray, submitted tabulation of bids for
the .College Street Sewer under Improvement Resolution No.I954.

Bids having been received for the'construction of a sewer on
College Street from Elwood avenue to Keller Street under Improvement Resolution No.
I954, the Board this 9th., day of November, I927, hereby awards the contract for said
improvement to Edward Di Julio at . his . low bid of 4,204.20.
The Board approved a plan for a driveway on Lot 7701d Plat for
Heckaman & Heckaman owners by Whitcomb and Keller Contractors.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. .-Uray, filed plans and specifications and
the Board adopted a resolution for the grading of the alikey west of Miami Street from
Irvington Avenue to Fairview and a retaining walk to support a building, under ImprovE

ment resolution No.I975.
In the above named improvement resolution, the Board hereby order
that on the 30th., day of November, I927, this Board will meet in their office in the
City Hall at 7-I5 P. 111. , to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose
property is liable to be assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the
benefits to the several lots and pardesl of land. liable to be assessed for said
improvement will be equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the City
j Engineer. The Board further orders that notices of said hearing shall be published
on the Ilth., day of November arld on the I8th.,, ds'y, of November, I927, in the South
Bend News Times and Tribune and that notices be mailed to. property owners according
to law.

the assessment roll for the con truction of pavement on Ewing Avenue from Miami Stree
to Leer Street under Improvement Resolution No.I833.
In the above named assessment roll, after hearing all
persons interested in or affected by said said improvement, the Board finds that the
several lots and parcels of land, primarily assessdd for said improvement have been
benefited in the amounts named on said assessment roll. The Board, therefore,: takes
final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all -things ratified, confir
ed and approved and the proceedings closed. The Board now orders said assessment rol
delivered to the Department of Finance.
The Board signed the contract with Edward Di Julio for
the construction of a sewer in College Street from Elwood Avenue to Keller .Street and
Improvement Resolution No.I954.. The Board also approved the construction bond on
same in the amount of 2, IO2.I0, which is 50 % of the eontr--D_ct price signed by the
Inland 'Bonding (;o.
No petitions having been filed for a change of the type
of pavement other than that specified in the preliminary order for the pavement of
McKinley Avenue from the east line of Greenlawn Avenue to the west line of Twenty -
Second z1treet under Improvement Resolution No.I923, the Board this I5th., day of
November., 1927, hereby makes a final order for sheet aspahilt, heavy traffic, as the
type of pavement with which said street, shall be improveil and awards the contract for
said improvement to Williston Construction Company at their low bid of $23,359.95.
The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of Harry r1. Barne
for the pavement on Miner Street from Eddy Street to the east line of Madison Perk
Addition under Improvement Resolution No.I865. This bond for I0% of the construction
cost of said improvement, $I,380.70, signed by the United States Fidelity & Guaranty
Co.
The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of Harry N. Barr
for the pavement on Ewing Avenue from Miami Street to Leer street under Improvement
Resolution No.I833. This bond for I0% of the construction cost of said improvement,
$86I.44, signed by the United States Fidelity&, Guaranty Co.
The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of W. J. _ Nees Co.
for the pavement, grade, curb and wale improvement on Sherman Avenue, Rose, Roosevelt
and Beale 6treet under Improvement Resolution No.179I. This bond for 10% of the
construction Cost, $8,409.30, signed by the Southern Surety Co.
