Board met in regular session at 7*i5 P. Mi. All members present.
The Board approved the following guarantee bonds:
Guarantee bond of the filbert Constructinn Company for the construction.of
pavement on Sheridan and Huron Streets from Division Street to Huron Street'and from
Albert Street to alley east of Huron Street under Improvement Re -solution No,I808.
Bond in the amount of I1
382.69, which is 10% of the amount due the contractor, was
signed by the Inland Bonding Co.
Guarantee bond of the Albert Construction, Company for the construction of I
pavement on Gladstone and Huron Streets from Division Street to south line Lot 748
and from Edison Street to alley west of Gladstone under improvement resolution No.I807.
Bond in the amount of I,470.I0, which is I0% of the amount due the contractor, was
signed by Inland Bonding Co.
Guarantee Bond of Albert Construction Go., for the construction of pave-
ment on Division Street from east line of Belleville third unit to west line of Belle-
ville third uunit under Improvement resolution No.I839. Bond in the amount of 4,2I9,40
which is IOc of the amount due the contractor, was signed by Inland Bonding Co,

bond of the Albert Construction 1'o., for the construction of
pavement on Sheridan Avenue from alley sough of Division Street to a poin* 82 feet
South under Improvement resolution No. I806. Bond in the amount of II2.42, which is
10% of the amount due the contractor, was signed by Inland Bonding Co.
■ li City Engineer, Mr. H. G. T01ray, submitted the following partial estimates: �
Partial estimate No.I for the Altgeld Pavement improvement from west line
of High Street to Miami a reet, in gccordance with the contract between the City and
Reith Riley Construction o. , under Improvement resolution No.I843. Board signed and
approved same in the amount of $5,779.06.
Partial estimate No. 5 for the grad.,, curb and walk improvement on 'Ridge-
dale Road, Avondale Road and Ridge Road, in accordance with the terms of the contract
between the City and E. T. Tranberg, contractor, under Improvement Resolution No.I868.
Board signed and approved same in the amount of 2,409.84.
Partial estimate No.2 for the roadway widening and heavy traffic sheet
asphalt pavement with Metropolitan brick and water connection improvement on Lincoln
Way `lest from Borth line of LaSalle Avenue to west line of Cottage Grove Avenue in
accordance with the terms of the contract between the City and t'lillistononstruction
Co., under Improvement resolution No.18I3. Board signed and approved same in the amount
of 424, 039.80.
Partial estimate No.I for the pavement on C rroll Street from Dayton Street
to T:-ilton Street in accordance with the terms of the contract between the City and
1,Rieth Riley Construction Co., under Improvement Res-olution No.I888. Board signed and
;approved same in the amount of '4,3I2,43,
Partial estimate No.2 for the pavement improvement on Corby Street from
!i Eddy Street to east line of Park Place Addition in accordance with the terms of the
contract between the City and Rieth Riley onstruction Co., under improvement resolution
No.I832. Board signed and approved same in the amount of 7,857.19.
The 3oard signed the following contracts:

Contract with the Rieth Riley Construction Co., for the pavement of Van
. Buren Street from C. I. & S. R. R. to Sancome Avenue under Improvement resolution No.
1884. Board also approved the construction bond for same in the amount of I,400.00
which represents 50 jo of the contract price of said improvement, signed by Southern
Surety Co.
Contract with the Reith Riley Construction Co. , for the pavement on
Carroll Street from Dayton Street to Milton Street under Improvement Resolution No.I888.
Board also approved the construction bond of same in the amount of 1,400.00, which
represents 50,10 of the contract price of said improvement, signed by Southern Surety
Co.
Contract with the Reith Riley Construction Co., for the pavement on
Harriett Street from Mishawaka Avenue to Hildreth Street under Improvement Resolution
No.I883. Board also approved the construction bond of same in the amount of 8,000.00
which represents 50 0 of the contract price of said improvement, signed by the Southern
Surety Co.
Contract with Alex Bukowski for the construction of concrete pavement
on Ist. , alley South of Rapier Street from Walnut Street to Laurel Street under Improt
vement Resolution No.I873. Board also approved the construction bond of same in the
amount of 5, 899.40, which is I00% of the contract price, signed by United States
Fidelity Co.
• Contract with Williston Construction Co., for the construction of pavement
on Ewing Avenue from Michigan Street to Vest line of Franklin Street under Improvement
I Resolution Ho.I899. Board also approved the cons ruction bond of same in the amount

of I0,165.30, which is '50% of the contract price, signed by Inland Bonding Co,

This being the date set, continued hearing was had on the assessme
roll for the construction of pipe sewer on Orange Street from -College Street to a oin
40 feet West of East line of Lot 24 College Grove Addition r -Also from Brookfield �tre
tp a point I69.5 feet west of the center line of Brookfield; also from Grant Street
to alley west of O'Brien Street under Improvement Resolution No.1796.
In the above named assessment roll, the Board finds that the lots
and parcelsof land primarily assessed for said improvement have been benefited in the
amounts shown on said roll. Therefore, the Board takes final action on said assessment'
roll and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceed-
ings closed. The Board now orders said assessment roll delivered to the Department of
Finance.
This being the date set, hearings were had on the following assess-
ment rolls:

Assessment roll for the pavement improvement on Sheridan Avenue
from Ayley South of Division Street to a point 82' South under Improvement resolution

In all of the above named assessment rolls, no remonstrators appear;;
ed and no written remonstrance was filed and the Board being fully advised in the premises
finds that the several lots and parcels of land primarily assessed for said improvements
have been benefited in the amounts shown on said roll. Therefore, the Board takes final
action on said assessment rolls, filed August I6th. , and August 24th. , I927, and declares
same in all things ratified, c onfirnuad and approved and the proceedings closed. The
Board now orders said assessment rolls delivered to the Department of Finance.

from Miami Street to South East Trunk Sewer under Improvement resolution No-1789.
In all of the .above named assessment rolls, remonstrators appeared
but no written remonstrance was filed. After hearing all persons interested in said
assessment (tolls, the Board decid s to continue hearings on said rolls until September
I4th.1 I927.
This being the date set, hearing was had on Vacation resolution
for the Vacation of the Ist alley South of Dunham Street from Carlisle Street to south
line of Dunham Street under Vacation Resolution No.I9I8.J
In the above named tacation resolution, no remonstrators appeared
and no written remonstrance was filed, and the Board bein- fully advised in the premise,
takes final action on said vacation resolution and declares same in all things ratified;
confirmed and approved and the alley vacated.
The Board now orders that a list or roll be prepared of all owners
or holders of property and of valuable interests therein sought to be taken or to be
injuriously affected, which list or roll shall also describe the property heneficially
affected.

j City Engineer and that the improvements are necessary. The Board, therefore., takes
final action on all of the above named improvement resolutions and declares said resol
cations, in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
The Board now orders that on the I4th., day of September, i927, this Board
�i will receive, open and consider sealed proposals up to 7-I5 P. M., for the construction
!i of the above named improvements. The Board further orders that notice of said proposals

Improvement resolution No.I9I3 for the pavement of Division Street from
Parry Street to Eddy Street.

In both of the above named improvement resolutions, remonstrators but no
written remonstrance was filed, and the Board being fully advised in the premises finds
that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed for said
improvements will be equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the City 4ngin-
eer and that the improvements are necessary. The Board, therefore, over rules the
remonstrances and declares said improvement resolutions in all things ratified, con-
j firmed and approved.
The Board no,Yorders that on the I4th. , day of September, I927, this Board
will receive, open and consider sealed proposals for the construction of said improve
ments up to 7-I5 P. M. The Board further orders that notices of said proposals shall

said improvements will be equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the City
!; Engineer and that the improvement is necessary. The Board, therefore, over rules said

In the above matter, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstsnce
was filed, and the Board being fully advised in the premises, finds that the several
lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed for said improvement will be benefited
in accordance with the estimated cost of same as reported by the city engineers and
that the improvement is necessary. The Board, therefore, takes final action on said
resolution and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
The Board si ed the following certif is tes in regard to the construction
of the Northwest Trunk Sewer:

This certifies, that J. J. Dunnegan Construction Company, general contractor
for the construction of .the Northwest Trunk Sewer System, Improvement Resolution No,1774
in the City of South Bend, Indiana, or the lawful holder` hereof, is entitled to receive

upon the surrender of this certificate, in awash or sewer improvement bonds, to be
hereaftercollected or issued by the City of South Bend, Indiana, the sum of One
Hundred Thousand five hundred fifty seven and 67/I00, (II2,557.67), the same being
sixty five percent (65%) of the amount shown to be due said contractor (over and abov
amounts previously certified) by monthly partial estimate No.I made by the City
engineer, and bearing date of July 20th., I927 and approved by the Board of Public
Works on the 29th. , day of July, I927.
In witness whereof, said city of South Bend has executed this
certificate on this 3Ist., day of August, I927.

improvement bonds, to be hereafter collected or i ssured by the City of South Bend
Indiana the sum of One Hundred `Thousand eight hundred twenty four Dollars and 64�
cehiis (1100,824.64), the same being 65% of the amount shown to be due said contractor
(over and above amounts previously certified) by monthly estimate No.2 made by the

This bein- the date set, hearing eras had on Improvement Resolution
No.I920 for the sewer on 2lst., Street from Jefferson Blvd., to McKinley Street.
In the above named improvement resolution, remonstrators appeare
but no written remonstrance was filed and after hearing all persons interes ;ed in
said improvement and being fully advised in the premises, the Board takes final
action on said resolution, modifying same to read "from Jefferson Blvd., to the east
line of Colfax Avenugg" amd declares said resolution in all things ratified, confirm
and approved, as modified.
The Board now orders that on the I4th. , day of September, I927i
this Board will receive, open and consider sealed proposals for the construction of
said improvement up to 7-I5 P. 11. Board further orders that notices of said proposals
shall be published on the 2nd. , day of September and on the 9th. , day of September

In the matter of Condemnation Resolution No,NI5 for the opening'
