Board met in regular session at 9 A. M. All iperibers present.
Minutes of meetings held August 23rd. , and August 24th. , I927 read and approv
ed.
The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of the T�ryckenham Land and Investment
Co. , for the construction of pavement on Dale avenue and Woodside Street under Improve-
ment Resolution No.I8I79 for 10% of the amount due the contractor, signed by the New
York Indemnity; Co. Amount of bond $ I, 5I7, I6.
The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of the Northern Indiana Construction Co.
for the construction of sewer pn Woodside Street uncler Improvement Resolution No.I838,
for I0 j of the amount due the contractor, signed by the New York Indemnity Co. Amount
,of bond $202.29.
The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of the Northern Indiana Construction Co,,
.1 for the construction of. the pipe sewer on Lincoln Way West under Improvement Resolution i
No.I705, for 10% of the amount due the bontractor, signed by the New Tork Indemnity Co.
Amount of bond $76I.59.
The.Board signed the contract with Alex Bukowski for the construction of paveme t
on Ist., alley west of McPherson Street from Division Street to Napier Street under
Improvement Resolution No.I876. Board also approved the construction bond for same in th
amount of $985.50, which is I00%bof the construction price signed by the United States
Fidelity and Guaranty Co.
The Board signed the contract with Carl Zimmer for the construction of grade,
curb and walk on Liberty Street from Washington Avenue to Jefferson Blvd., under impro- 1I
vement resolution No.I900. Board also approved the construction bond for same in the
l amount of 8I5.009 which is 50. o of the contract price signed by the Southern Surety Co,

This being the date set, hearings were had on the following assessment rolls:
Pavement on Gladstone and Huron Streets under Improvement Resolution No.I807.
Assessment roll for the pavement on Sheridan & Huron Streets under Improvement
Resolution No.I808.
Assessment roll for the pavement on Division Street from East line of Bellevill
Third Unit to Test line of Belleville Third unit under Improvement Resolution No.I839.
Assessment roll for the construction of grade, cjrb and walk and pavement on
Pulaski and Calvert Street under Improvement Resolution No.I802.
In all of the above named assessment rolls, no remonstrators appeared and no
written remonstrance was filed and the Board being fully advised in the premises, finds
that the several lots and parcels of land primarily assessed for said improvements, have
been benefited in the amounts named on said rolls. The Board, therefore, takes final
action on said assessment rolls, declaring same in all things ratified, confirmed and
approved, without modification, and the proceedings closed.

City Ma.gineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, submitted partial estimate No.I for the
construction of pavement between the cabs and the present concrete pavement on Ewing
Avenue from Iliami Street to Leer Street/in accordance with the terms of the contract
between the City and H. N. Barnes, contractor under Improvement resolution No.I833.
Board signed and approved same in the amount of 7,374.52
Gity Engineer, Mr H. G. Wray, submitted partial estimate No.2 for the
material in place in trench and'on materials not in place but along the line of sewer,
known as the North-west Trunk/Sewer Svstem, in accordance with the terms of the contract
between the City and J. J. Dunn.egan Construction Co., contractors, under improvement
resolution No.I774. Board approved and signed same in the amount of 100,824.64,
City Engineer, I11r. H. G. Iffray, filed primary assessment roll for the
construction of local sewers on Gladstone and Sheridan Avenues and alley south of
Division Street under Improvement Resolution No.I785.
In'the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that on
the 6th., day of September, 1927, this Board will meet in the office at the ity Hall
at I0-00 A. M., to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property has
been assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the several lots -and parcels
of land primarily assessed for said improvement have been or will be benefited in the
amounts shown on said roll or in greater or less amount.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, filed plans, specifications and estimates
and the Board adopted the following named improvement resolutions:
Improvement resolution No.I938 for the ganstruction of walk and curb
where necessary, on Sample Street from Walnut Street to Chapin"Street,
Improvement Resolution No.I936 for the construction of walk and curb,
where necessary, on High Street between Dubail and Bowman Street.
Improvement Resolution No.I937 for the pavement on Jackson Street
from Washington Street to Linden Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.1937.
Improvement Resolution No.I939 for the construction of a local sewer
on Wilber Street from Lincoln Way West to Elwood Avenue.
In all of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby
orders that on the 2lst., day of September, I927, this Board will meet at 7-15 P. M.,
to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property is liable to be
assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the benefits to the property
liable to be assessed for said improvements will be eual to the estimated cost of
same as reported by the City Engineer. The Board further orders that notices of said
hearings shall be published on the 2nd. , day of 1Sg tenber and on the 9th. , day of
September, 1927, in the South Bend News Times and ribune.. Board further orders that
notices of said hearings shall be mailed to property owners according to law.
Upon the recommendation of Wm. F. Qualls, Supt., the Board approved
the construction of additional lights in the traffic signals at Michigan and Colfax,
Michigan and Washington and Michigan and Jefferson Streets, in accordance with the
new traffic ordinance prohibiting left hand turns at these points. Same ordered.
