Board met in regular session at 7-I5 P. M. All members present.
This being the date set, hearings were had on the following assessment
rolls:
Assessment roll for the pavement of Hosse Court from Chapin Street to
Scott Street under Improvement Resolution No.18II, amount due contractor, 2,283.30,
Assessment roll for the pavement of Ford Street from Olive Street to
ley Street under Improvement Resolution No.I707, amount due contractor 13,516.48.
Assessment roll for the pavement of C talpa Avenue from Calvert Street
to Ewing Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.I691, amount. due contractor I3,,6I2.94.
Assessment roll for the construction of sewer along Rose, Roosevelt,
Beale and Bra= Streets under Improvement resolution No.I782, amount due contractor
35,32988.
In all of . the above named assessment rolls, nheremonstrators appeared
and no written remonstrance was filed, and the Board being fully advised in the premises
finds that the benefits to' the several -lots and parcels of land are equal to the amounts
named on said rolls. The Board therefore, decides to sustain all former action taken
on said assessment roils and declares said assessment rolls, filed July 27th., I927,
in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The Board now orders said assessment
rolls_ delivered to the Department . of Finance.
This being the date set, hearing was had on the assessment roll for the
pavement improvement on Division -Street from the west line of Olive Street to the East
line of Chicago Street under Improvement Resolution No.I722.
In the above named assessment roll, remonstrators appeared but no written
remonstrance was filed, and the Board being fully advised in. the premises, finds that
the several lots and parcels of 1pand which have been assessed for said improvement, have
been benefited in the amounts named on said roll and therefore, the Board takes final
action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and
approved. The Board now orders said_ assessment roll delivered to the Department of
Finance.
This being the date set, hearing was had on Condemnation Resolution No
I903 for the widening of McKinley Street to an 80' street.
In the above named condemnation resolution, no remonstrators appeared
and no written remonstrance was filed and the Board being fully advised in the premises,
takes final action on said condemnation resolution No.I903 and declares same in all
things ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed:
The Board now order that a list or roll be prepared of all owners or
holders.of property or of valuable interests therein sought to be taken, which list
oV rol shall also describe the �ropert beneficially affected by said condemnation. The
ard ereby appoints .Edward Pfeiffer, yDavid Gibson and Ralph Osborn as appraisors and
Clerk instructed to notify them of said appointment.
The Board signed the contract with the Albert Construction Co., for the
pavement of Frances Street from Sorin Street to South Bend Avenue under Improvement
resolution No.1864. Board also approvdd the construction bond for same in the amount
of 7,804,40 which is 50% of the contract price, signed by Inland Bonding Co.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, filed the following assessment rolls:
Assessment roll for the pavement or resurfacing of Tecumseh Street
from the north curb line of ilakewa to the south curb line of Parkovash Avenue under
improvement resolution No.I84I. Amount due contractor 8,I06.44.
Assessment roll for the resurfacing of Wakewa Avenue from Michigean to
west property line of Tecumseh Avenue projected South under Improvement resolution No
I842. Amount due contractor 1.198.70.
In both of the above named assessment rolls, the Board orders that on
the 24th., day of August, I927, this Board will meet in their office in the City Hail
at 7-I5 P. M., to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property
has been assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the several lots .and
parcels of land which have been assessed for said improvement -have been benefited in
the amounts shown on said roll or in a greater or less amount. Board further orders
that notices of said hearings shall be published on the ,
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray , filed the primary assessment rolls for the
ewer improvement on Woodside Street from Twyckenham Drive to E. line of Lots 176 and
77 Ridgedale Fourth Addition Under Improvement Resolution No.I838; ALSO for the

Street to South line of Dunham Street under Vacation Resolution No.I9I8. (&U
In the above named vacation resolution, the Board hereby orders
that on the 3lst.9 day of August, 1927, this Board will meet at it's office in the
City Hall at 7-I5 P. Me, to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose
property is liable to be affected by said proceedings. The Board further orders
that notices of said vacation hearing shall be published on the IIth., day of August
and on the I8th., day of August,.I927, in the South Bend News Times and Tribune.
City Engineer, Mr. H.-G. ::ray, filed plans, specificationsand the
Board adopted a resolution for the construction of a local sewer in and along Miner
Street from the West line of North Sunnys de Addition to Harriett Street under
Improvement Resolution No.I926. Property owners waived all
objections on and in defense to any defect in said proceedings
and to.any violation in procedure for the construction of street improvements accord-
ing to law.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. `,dray, filed plans, specifications and
the Board adopted the following named improvement resolutions:
Improvement resolution No.I920 for the construction of a local
sewer on 2Ist., Street from Jefferson Blvd., to McKinley Avenue.
Improvement Resolution No.I9I9 for the construction of a local
sewer on McKinley Avenue from 22md., Street to Greenlawn Avenue.
Improvement Resolution No.I92I for the construction of local
sewer on 20th. , Street from Jefferson Street to McKinley Avenue.
Improvement Resolution No.1922 for the pavement of Kal ey Street
from the South line of Division Street to the North line of Semple Street.
Improvement Resolution No.I923 for the pavement of McKinley Street

Improvement Resolution No.I927 for the pavement on Harris Street

I In all of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board
hereby orders that on the 3Tst., day of August, .I927, this Board will meet in their
office in the City hall at 7-I5 P. M., to hear and: receive remonstrances from all person
whose property is liable to be assessed for said improvement and will decide whether
the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed for said
improvement will be 'equal to the estimate cost of same as rep ort ed by the City Engineer.
The Board further orders that notices of said hearings shall be published on the Ilth.,
day of August and on the I8th. , day of August, 1927 in the South Bend News Times and
Tribune and that notices be mailed to property owners according to law.
The Board approved the follcviing guarantee bonds:
Guarantee bond for the Albert construction Co., for the
pavement. on Division Street from the west line of Olive Street to the East line of
Chicago 6treet under Improvement Resolution No.I7229 signed by the Inland Bonding Co.
Guarantee Bond of the Albert Construction Co., for the
pavement on Ford Street from Olive Street to Kaley Street under Improvement Resolution
Uo.I707, signed by Inland Bonding Co.

Minutes of meetings held August 2nd and August 3rd read and approved.
j This bring the date set, continued hearing was had on the Assessment Roll
Ifor the Condemnation(Easement) for the Northwest Trunk sewer, under Improvement
Resolution No. 1769.
Upon the request of Mr. John J. Yeagley, Attorney for the New York Central
Railroad, Board continued hearing on said roll until the 23rd day of August, 1927.
- City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, made a.report on the remonstrance filed
against the pavement on Parry Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 1897, show-
ing firty resident property onn6hs ahrtht street, twenty of whom have signed the
remonstrance. As this does not constitute a majority, the Board therefore sets
August 23rd as the date for bids to be received for same.
Board approved Excavation Bond for H. Neupert, signed by the Hartford
Accident and Indemnity Company, for $1000.00
Board approved request of F. E. Chaippaign, Ci ty . Eieetrician, to attend the
annual meeting of the International Association of Eledtrical Inspectors, to be held
September 26th to 29th.. The approximate cost of trip not to exceed 050,000
The Board signed the contract with H. L. Davis & Son for Grade, Curb and
{� Walk on Eckman Street from.East line of Studebaker Place Addition to East line of
High Street; also, from a point 180 feet West of West -line of Dale Avenue to Miami
Street, under Improvement Resol.ution.No. 1858. Board also approved the construction
bond for same in the amount of $4:,120.12 signed by the Metropolitan Casualty Insur-
ance Comapny.
j� Board signed contract with the Rietjs Riley Construction Company for the
pavement on Twenty-eighth Street from Mishawaka Avenue to Grand Trunk & Western
Railroad$ under Improvement Resolution No. 1837. Board also approved construction
bond for same In the amount of $12,000.00 signed by the Southern Surety Company.
Board signed the contract with John F. Ilipskind for construction of a
sewer on Miner Street from West line of Borth Sunnyside Addition to Harriet Street,
under improvement Resolution No..1926. Board also approved construction bond for same
in t��e Amount 4f $1, 030.10 siQd by the Inland Bonding Company.
