AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING $39,100.00 FROM THE MORRIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR NECESSARY PLASTER CEILING REPAHtS, WELDING REPAIRS AND FOR PREPARATION OF ARCHITECTURAL MATERIALS TO BE USED TO ACQUIRE QUOTES TO RESTORE/REPLACE MAIN EXTERIOR DOORS AND WINDOWS. (FUND NUMBER 416) STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT T'he Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund (Fund No. 416) was established for the purpose of renovating, remodeling, or otherwise improving the facilities at the Morris Performing Arts Center. The Morris Performing Arts Center desires to make certain capital improvements to maintain the facilities in good working order for the benefit of all patrons and clients. The proposed capital expenditure is for $39,100.00 for necessary plaster ceiling repairs, ceiling decor painting repairs, Reachmaster lift rental, welding repairs, and to obtain architectural drawings and other documents necessary to acquire quotes for the replacement of the Morris Performing Arts Center main windows and doors facing Michigan Street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. The following sum of money is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from and within the Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund for necessary plaster ceiling repairs, welding repairs, and for preparation of architectural materials to be used to acquire quotes to restore/replace the main doors and windows of the Morris Performing Arts Center. Ann Puzzello Chairperson, Committee of the Whole • PERFORMING ARTS CENTER February 8, 2010 Mr. Derek Dieter President, South Bend Common Council 455 County-City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Re: Morris Performing Arts Center Capital Improvement Appropriations Ordinance Substitution for Bi1108-10 Dear Mr. Dieter: I attach for filing with the South Bend Common Council a Substitute Ordinance regarding Bill 08-10. The Substitute Ordinance changes and increases the original request from $27,934.00 to an appropriation of $39.100.00 from the Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund (Fund 416). Revenues from this fund are generated by a ticket surcharge and the fund is used for capital improvements such as renovation, remodeling and specifically here, repairs to the plaster and decorative painting on the auditorium ceiling; and to obtain architectural drawings and other documents necessary to acquire quotes for the replacement of the Morris Performing Arts Center main windows and doors facing Michigan Street. The improvement for which the Morris Performing Arts Center desires appropriation consists of the following: $39,100.00 a. $ 26,000.00 -Architectural Drawings & RFP Documents. b. $ 10,700.00 - Reachmaster Lift 2 week rental. Used to reach ceiling to make necessary plaster and painting repairs. c. $ 2,400.00 -Welding repairs to "Pick Points" for chain motors used to hang a lighting truss in front of proscenium arch. The Morris Performing Arts Center requests the Council's approval of this Ordinance that will help maintain the Morris Center for the benefit the City and its citizens. Sincerely, ~~~ ' Dennis J.
