The Board approved the bond of T Is000.00 for 71. S. Lodyga signed by the Fidelity and Casualty Co., of New York. The Board :approved the excavation bond of . Emery Fredericks for the Fredericks Plumbing Co., signed by the American turbk Co. of New York. The Board approved the bond for contractor, E. T. Tranberg in the amount of-I,000.00 signed by Eiiployers Liability Co. The Board approved the Guarantee Bond of Rocco Simeri for the construction of the pipe sewer on Donmoyer Street from Mlichigan Street to Fellows Street under Improvement Resolution No,1756. This bond of $461.IS is I0% of the con- tract price for said improvement. The Board approved the driveway at 626.Twenty-third Street. City Engineer, I.ir. H. G. gray, submitted the following partial: estimates: Partial estimate No.I for the pipe sewer improvement on Clyde Street from i©x Street to alley north of Bowman Street., Also in Bowman Street from Clyde Street to Ernsperge.r Street, in accordance withthe terms of the contract between the City and L. H. Webster, Contractor., ender Improvement Resolution No.I760. Board signed and approved same in the amount of 3,599.86. Partial estimate No.I for the pipe sewer on Calvert Street from ''line Street to Sampson Street, in accordancd with the terms of the contract between the City and L. H. Webster, Contractor, under Improvement Resolution 1-1o.I775. Board signed and approved same in the amount of $1, 703.38. Partial estimate No.I or copy of contract fer the improvement", on Division Street from East line of Belleville third Unit to oddest line of Belleville third Unit, in accordance with the terms of the contract between the City and the Albert Construction Co., under Improvement Resolution No.I839. Board signed and approved same in the amount of $33,74I.80. The Board signed the contract with J. A. Barnes for the construction of grade, curb and walk on Twenty-first Street from South line of McKinley', to North line of Christman Place Add., ALSO on West 2 pf Twenty-first Street from north line of Christman Place Add., to center line of 7Aa " shington Avenue under Improve- j ment Resolution No.I804. Board approved the construction bond for said contractor in the amount of 3,I62.80 signed by Independence Indemnity Co. In the matter of the remonstrance against the improvement of the first alley north of 14•rion Street from I-ain Street to Michigan Street under Improvement Resolution No.I83I, City. Engineer, M___. H. G. 71ray, filed the following report: "Referring to the remonstrance against the improvement of the first alley north of Mlarion Street from Pain to Michigan Street under Improve- ment Resolution No.I83I, there are.four resident property holders.fronting on this proposed improvement, two of whom have signed the remonstrance. This does not consti- tute a majortty and therefore I would recommend that this improvement be advertised dor bidsin according with statutes. Yours very truly H. G. 'dray, City Engineer." I In the matter of the remonstrance against the improvement of the first alley west of Michigan Street from Marion Street to Navarre Street under Improvement Resolution No.I830, Uity Engineer, 17r. H. G. ;`irey filed the following report: "Referring to the resolution No.I830 for the improvement of the first alley west of Michigan Street from Ka.rion Street to Navarre Street, there is a majority against this improvement, therefore, I would recommend that the proceed be stopped and that no further action be taken by the Board of Works in this matter. Yours very truly, H. G. ':dray, City Engineer." The Board approved the recommendation of Xr. Wray_ in this matter of the Improvement Resolution No.I830, and therefore declares said resolution rescinded and all former proceedings, cull and voidq and the proceedings closed. In the matter of the remonstranceagainst the improvement on Tecumseh Street from Wakewa to Parkovash, Mr. H. G. Wray, City Fo.gineer, submitted the 0 8,6 Tuesday, June I4t,., I927. • following report: "t1ith the return'of attached remonstrance against improvement of Tecumseh hvenue from Wakewa to Parkovash, I respectfully submit the following report. There. are seven resident property holders on this street, with a total vote of twelve, five of th e proper ea having a joint deed. There are six legal signatures upon the attached remonstrance. This does not constitute a majority, there fore, the remonstrance does not hold. Yours very truly, H. G. Wray, City Engineer," On the following. -:.named improvement resolutions the Board hereby orders that on the 28th., day of June, I927, the Board will receive, open and consider sealed proposals for the following improvements: Pavement on Altgeld Street from west line of High Street to Yiami Street under Improvement Resolution No.I843. Pavement on Tecumseh Street from North curb line of V,akewa Avenue to South curb line of Parkovash Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.I84I. Pavement on Wakewa Avenue from Michigan Street to west lin of Tecumseh Street under Improvement Resolution No.I842. The Board further orders that notices of said proposals shall be publish ed on the I7th. , day of June and on the 24th. , day of June, 1927, in the South Bend News Times and Tribune. The Board approved the retttion of the I4diana & 11lichigan Electric Co., to set poles in the distict between Prairie Aiaenue and Chapin Street and between the New York entral Railroad and Sample Street, due to improvements on Chapin Street. Upon the recommendation of Wm. F. Qualls, superintendent, the Board granted this per- mission, In the matter of the petition signed by property owners for a change of a type of pavement other than that specified in the preliminary order for the pave- ment on LaSalle Avenue under"Resolution No.I8I2, the City Engineer, filed the following report: "There are I2 resident property property owners within the limits of this improvement, five of whom have legally signed this petition for a change of type of pavement. This does not constitute a majority petitions, and therefore, I would recommend that a final order be issued for the same material specified in the prelimin- ary order. Yours very truly, H. G. 'dray, City12 igineer." The petition filed for a change of the type of pavement other than that specified in the preliminary order for the pavement of LaSalle Avenue from Matn Street to a point I7 feet west.of east line of Lot 4 in Killer's Sub, under Improvement 'Resolution Ido.I8I2, did not constitute a majority of resident property owners, therefore ;the Board, this I4th., day of June, 1927, hereby, makes a final order for sheet asphalt as the tjpe of pavement with which said street shall be improved and awards the contract for said Improvement to the `dillis ton Construction Co., at their low bid of $21, 708.40 for sheet asphalt with metropolitan brick in street car tracks and with the street closed to traffic during the period of construction. No retitions having been filed for a change of the type of pavement on Lincoln Way West from North line of LaSalle Avenue to west line of Cottage Grove Avenue under Improvement Resolution 10.I8I3, the Board this I4th.1 day of June, I92?7, hereby makes a final order for sheet asphalt as the tape of pavement with which said street shall be improved and awards the contract for said improvement to the -.-iilliston Con- struction Co., at their low bid of 63,299.I2 for sheet asphalt with metropolitan brick in car tracks and with the street closed to traffic during the period of construction,' City Engineer, Mr. H. I All of the above imp:!�Oveihents awarded on June 8th.9 I927., This being the date set, hearing was had on the assessment roll fo- the local sewer on Fairview, Eying, Eckman and trine 1treets under Improvement Resolution No.1784. In the above matter, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed and the Board being fully advised in the premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land which have been assessed for said ,improvement, are equal to the amounts set opposite same on the assessment roll. The Board, therefore, decides to sustain all former action taken on said assessment roll, 9 filed June 8th., I927, and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The preliminary award for Sheet asphalt pavement made on this Street on June 8th. , 1927. 11r. Wray, City Engineer, submitted a report on the remonstranc filed against the improvement of Chapin Street from Washington Street to Monroe Street. This remonstrance is signed by a majority of resident property owners on this street and, thereforerq the Board has no power to act in this matter unless it is taken to the Council for action, in which event, it will take a 2/3 vote by the Council to coati; this improvement. The final decision in this matter will be made at some later date. Install 4000 lumen light at Walnut Street and Huron Street. Install 2500 lumen light on Walnut Street at alley south of Division. Remove old pole line from Walnut Street south of Division Street.
