HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/25/1927 Board of Public Works Minutes-IMM 345 Tednesday, May 25th.9 1927. The Board met in regular session at 7-I5 P. M. All members present. This being the date set, hearings were had on the following assessment . rolls: 0 • Assessment roll for the construction of grade, curb and walk on the north side of'l diana Avenue between Leer Street and Clyde Street.under Improvement resalution No.I778. Assessment roll for the construction of grade and walk on LaSalle Avenue from Sunnysid.e Avenue to the Ist. , alley East of 6uxmyside Avenue under Improvement resolution No.1777. In both of the above named assessment rolls, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed, and the Board being fully advised in the premides finds that the several lots and parcels of land which have been primarily assessed for said improvement, have been benefited in the amounts shown on said roll. The Board therefore, decides to sustain all former action taken on said assessment rolls, and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The Board now orders said assessment rolls, filed May I7th. , I92% delivered to the Department of Finance. Assessment roll for the vacation of the alley lying between Lot II and j Lot I2 in Kuntzman and Meyer's Addition from East line of Olive Street to the west line of the Ist. , alley east of Olive Street under Vacation Resolution No. I787. In the above matter, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstran<'e was filed, and the Board being fully advised in the premises, finds that the benefits aerruing to the several lots primarily assessed for said vacation, have been benefited in the amounts named -on said asstcation sment roll. The Board, therefore, decides to sustain 11 all former action taken on said Resolution No.I787, and declares said assessmen roll in all, things ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed. The ! Board now orders said assessment roll delivered to the Department of Finance. City Engineer, Mr. H. G. dray, filed plans and the Board adopted a resolution for the vacation of the first alley West of Moan Street from the North line of Garst Street to the South line of the first alley North of Garst Street and from the North line of the fi_°st alley North of Garst Street to the South line of Sample Street under Vacation Resolution No.I859. In the above matter, the Board hereby orders that on the I5th., day Of June, I927, this Board at it's office in the City Hall, will meet,at 7-I5 P. Y,$ to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation. Board further orders that notices of said hearing shall be published on the 27th. , day of I6!ay and on the 3rd. , day of June, I927, in the South Bend News Times and Tribune. City Engineer, Fir. H. G. 'fray, fildd plans, specifications and estimate and the Board adopted a resolution for the construction of grade, curb and walk on Eckman Street from the east line of Studebaker Place Addition._to the East line of High Street, also from a point I80 feet west of the west line of Dale Avenue to Miami ;Street under Improvement Resolution No.I858. a In the above matter, the Board hereby orders that on the I5th., day of June, 1927, this Board will meet at it's office in the City Hall at 7-I5 P. Tvt. , to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property may be affected by said proceedings. Board further orders that notices of said hearing shall be published in the South Bend News Times and Tribune on, the 28th. , day of blay and on the 3rd. , day of June, 1927. City Engineer, Mr. H. G. gray, filed primary assessment roll for the construction of grade, curb and walk on O'Brien Streetmfrom the north line of Elwood ,Avenue to the South line of Keller Street; also Bulla Street and the south 2 of feller from alley east of O'Brien to alley west of O'Brien Street under Improvement resolution I745. Williston Construction Co., contractors, $5,I95.35. City Fngineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, filed vrimary assessment roll for the j construction of pavement on O'Brien Street from Elwood to Jgeller Street under Improvement Resolution No.1749. Williston Construction Company, contractors, $14,337.92. In both of the above named assessment rolls, the Board hereby orders that on the•.^3Mst., day of Maur, I927, this Board will meet in their office In the City Hall at 9 A. M., to hear and receive remonstrances from all -persons whose property has been assessed for said improvements. Both of these improvements being waived, no advertising is necessary - on these rolls. Wray, filed plans, specifications and estimate and the Board adopted a resolution for the grade, curban.d walk on Twyckenham Drive from Woodside Street to Ridgedale Road and Rodgedale Road from Twyckenham Drive to Mliami Stre t under Improvement Resolution No.1840. In the above named resolutions, property owners waived all right of objections on and in defense to any defect to any proceedings and to any violation in procedure for the construction pf street improvements according to law. City Engineer, fir. H. G. Wray, filed plans, specifications and estimate for.the construction of pavement on the first alley east of ialnut Stre from Division Street to Napier Street under Improvement Resolution No.I857. In the above named resolution, property owners waived all objections on and in defense to any defect in said proceedings and to any violation in procedure for construction of street. improvements according to law. Whereupon, the Board received, opened and read sealed proposals for the construction of same. PE., when said Board shall either pass on peitions for a change of type of pavement other than that specified in the preliminary order, award the contract or reject all bids. The Board hereby makes a preliminary order for said work to Reith Riley Construction Co., at their low bid of I6,294.57 for sheet asphalt. City Engineer, Muir. H. G. Wray, submitted partial estimate for the Woodside Street sewer Improvement from Twyckenham Drive to Ridge Road in accordance with the terms of the contract between the City and Northern Indiana Construction Co,:, under Improvement Resolution No.2838. Minutes of meetings held May 24th. , and Tway 25th. , 1927, read and approved. The Board approved the following bonds: Contractors bond of yI,000.00 in favor of I. "T. Staples', signed by the American Surety Co., Contractors bond of :7I,000.00 in favor of Schuyler Ackerman, signed by the American Surety Co. The Board signed the contract and approved the construction bond for the Northern Indiana. Construction Co., for the construction of the sewer on Lincoln ':lay West from LaSalle Avenue to the Trunk Sewer on Taylor Street under Improvement Resolution No.I705.
