Board met in regular session at 7-I5 P. M. All members present.
This bein,,T the date set, hearings were had on the following Assessment
rolls:
Assessment roll for the SubTrunk Sewer on Ewing Avenue and Main Street.
under Improvement Resolution No.I543.
Assessment roll for the Pipe Sewer on Jefferson Street from Meade Street
to Kaley Street and Kal ey Street from point I66 . feet south of the south line of
Napier Street to 17 feet South of the south line of Neweome Street under Improve-
ment Resolution No.I625o
Assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Laurel Street from Monroe Street to
a point 183 feet south of the center line of Division Street under Improvement
Resolution No-1623o
Assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Holland Street from Meade Street to
a point 70 feet East of the east line of Kerley Street under Improvement Resolution
No.I627.
In all of the above assessment roils, no remonstrators and no written
remonstrance was filed. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the Board decides to
continue hearing on the above assessment rolls until March 30th., 19270

This being the date set, hearings were had on the following Assessment rolls:

tion No.1739.
Assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Nash Street from Indiana Avenue to a
point 462 feet forth of the North line of Indiana Avenue under Improvement Resolu-
tion No,1740.

Assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Colfax Avenue from Meade Street to a
point 70 feet East of the Eabt line of Kaley Street under Improvement Resolution,
No.1629.

Assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Newcome Street from Meade Street to a
point 70 feet east of the Fast line of Kaley Street under Improvement Resolution
!� No.I628.
Assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Washington Avenue from Meade Street to
Kaley Street and Kaley Street from a point I8 feet north of the north line of
Newcome Street to a point 30 feet south of the south line of Colfax Avenue under
Improvement resolution No.I626.
In all of the above assessment rolls, no,remonstrators appeardd and no --written
remonstrance was filed, and the Board, being fully advised in the premises,, finds
that the benefits accruing to the several lots and parcels of land primarily assessed
for said. improvements, are equal to the amounts set Apposite said lots and parcels
of land on said primary rolls, and declares said assessment rolls, filed February
j 22nd,m 1927, in all things ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings
closed. Board further orders the above named assessment rolls delivered to the
Department- of Finance.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. dray, filed plans and specifications and the Board
adopted a resolution for the construction of a sewer on Sheridan Avenue from the
South line of the Ist. , alley South of Division Street to a point 82 feet South
under Improvement Resolution No.1786.

In the above matter, the Board hereby orders that on the 6th., day of April
1927., this Board at it's office in the City Hall at 7-I5 P. M., will meet to hear
and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property is liable to be affected
by said improvement. Board further orders that notices of said hearing be published
in the News Times and Tribune on the I8th., day of March and on the 25th., day of
March I927.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, filed primary assessment roll for the pipe sewer
on Frederickson Street and Prast Street from Johnson Street to O'Brien street and
O'Brien Street from Prast Street to Ist., alley south of Frederickson Street under
Improvement resolution No.1759.
In the above matter, the Board hereby orders that on the 30th. , day of March,
1927, this Board will meet to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose
property has been assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the lots
and parcels pf land which have been assessed for said improvement have been benefited
in the amounts shown on said roll or in a greater or less degree. Board further
orders that notices of said hearing be published in the South Bend News Times and
Tribune on the I8th., day of March and on the 25th., day of March, I927.
City Engineer, Mr. H. G. dray, filed plans and specifications and the Board
adopted a resolution for the construction of a sewer along Gladstone Avenue from
the South line of Lot #676 Belleville 3rd., Unit, to the center line of the alley
South of Division Street. Sheriden Avenue from the ebStth line of lot 411 Belleville
3rd.., Unit, to the center line of the alley South of Division Street, (except from
the South line of the ist., alley South of Division Street to a point 82 feet South),
The first alley South of Division Street from the first alley East of Sherialan. Avenue
to the first alley ,test of Gladstone Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.1785.
In the above matter, the property owners waived all objections on and in defense
to any defect in said proceedings, whereupon the Board opened and read the following
bids for the construction of said sewers:

There being only one bid on the above improvement, the Board this I6th., day
of March, I927, hereby awards the contract for said improvement to the Northern
Indiana Construction Co.
Upon the recommendation of I. S. Romig, City Attorney, the Board approved the
following Easements from the Twyckenham Land and Investment Company:
"EASEMENT" I'
"In consideration of the City of South Bend making an effort to sewer the following;
described land and the right to tap in and use the sewers and the benefits to be
derived therefrom, the Twyckenham Land and Investment Company, a Deleware chrporation
with offices in the City of South Bend, Indiana, does hereby grant to the City of
South Bend, Indiana, the right to law, maintain, operate and repair certain sewers j
from Miami Heights Addition to the City of South Bend, so as to connect them with the
Southeast Trunk Sewer through and along the follol,;ring described real estate in the
Northwest quarter of Section I9, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, in St. Joseph County,
Indiana, to wit: 1
Beginning at the Southeast, corner of Lot Number Forty-eight (48) in Miami
Heights Addition to the City of South Bead; thence East parallel with and
two hundred ninety-five and 54/I00 (295.541) feet South of the south line of
Ewing Avenue, a distance of.Five Hundred Sixty (560) feet to.the.Southeast
Trunk Sewer located in proposed Twyckenham Drive`; thence South Sixty (60) a�
feet; thence west five hundred sixty (560) feet to the Northeast Corner of
Lot Number One Hundred Eleven (III) Miami Heights Addition to the City of
South Bernd, thence North :Sixty (641) feet to the placeof beginning.

with and nix Hundred Thirty-three and 54/I00 (633.54 #) feet South of
the south line of Ewing dvenue, a distance of Three Hundred and Seventy
(3701),feet to the Southeast Trunk Sewer located in proposed Twyckenham
Drivethence South Sixty (601) feet; thence Wiest Three Hundred Seventy
(3701i feet to the Northeast corner of Lot Number One Hundred Seventy-
five (I75) in Miami Heights Addition to the City of South Bend; thence
North Sixty (60') feet to the place of beginning.
This grant of easement on the part of Twyckenham Land and Investment Company will not
preclude the city from assessing the land of saAd. Company when a sewer has been con-
structed along the line of said easement, as other lands are assessed as provided by
statute and no deduction, rebate, or concession will be claimed or asked by said
Company in consideration for the grant of this easement.
Said sewers shall be land along and through the above described real
estate as though said strips of land had been dedicated to the public as streets and
highways and for the purpose of laying, operatin&1 maintaining and repairing said
sewers, the City of South Bend shall have the right to go upon said described estate and
make such excavations as may be necessary -and proper, but all such excavations shall
be refilled and the ground leveled `vhen the work of laying, repairing or maintaining
has b een, completed.

caused these presents to be executed by it's president this 8th., day of March, 1927,

In consideration of the City of South Bend making an effort to sewer
the following described land and the right to tap in and use the sewers and the benefit
to be derived therefrom, the Twyckenham Land and Investment Company, a Delevar'e Corpor-
ation with offices in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph, County, does hereby grant to
the City of South Bend, Indiana, the right to layer, maintain, operate and repair certain
sewers as shown on bhe attached blue print.
This grant of easement on the part of the Twyckenham Land and Investmen
Company will not preclude the City from assessing the land. of said company when a sewe
has been constructed along the line kf said easement, as other lands are assessed as
pvovided by statute, and no deduction, rebate, or concession will be cltfilmed or asked
by said company in consideration for the grant of this easement,

The above bids were tabulated immediately and upon the recommendation of
City 12ginaer, H. G. Wray the Board awarded the contract for said work to
the Indiana Construction Oo., at their low bid of 7,208.00.

Board approved the excavation bond of John G. Kestler, signed by the Hartford
Accident and Indemnity Co for $I,000.00.

& Lancashire Indemnity Co., for I,000.00/
Upon the recommendation of xdm. F. Qualls, the Board approved the following
street lights:
Installation of a 4000 lumen light at the corner of Corby and Arthur Street*.,.
