Board met in regular session at 7-I5 P. M. All members present.
.The Board approved the following Guarantee Bonds:
pavement on Oakside Street ._
Guarantee Bond for the eet from Michigan Street
.to Fellows Street under Improvement Resolution No..I609, signed by the Reith Riley
Construction Co., contractors; and The Southern Surety Co., for 10% of the amount
of the contract price, 1.4I7.35.
Guarantee Bond for the pavement of -Esther Street fr&m Jefferson -Street
to Mayne Street under Improvement Resolution'No:I596, signed by The Williston Construct
ion Co . , contractors, and Inland Bonding Co., for I0% of the. amou:}t of the contract
price, 463070:
The Board approved the following Occupancy Bonds-,
George D. Hartman, contractor, signed by the Metropolitan Casualty Co.,
and The H. G. Christman Co., signed by The Standard Accident Insurance Co.
This being the date set, hearing was had on the pavement of the alley
East of Lincoln Way East.from Harper Court to second alley South, thence to Lincoln
Way East, under Improvement Resolution No.I749.
In the above matter, City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, reported on the
remonstrance against.said improvement, which was filed October I2th., I926, as follows:
"There are twenty resident property owners -residing on t his.alley., eleven
of whom have signed the remonstrance. This constitutes a majority and accordingly
I would recommend that no further action be taken on this improvement."
Upon hearing the above report, the -Board -hereby decides to rescind all
j former action of said improviement resolution, adopted on the 28th., day of September,
I9261 end declare same null and void and the proceedings closed.
Upon the recommendation of City Engineer, Mr. H. G. Wray, the Board
approved the grades Par the following alleys:
First alley South of Monroe Street from Columbia Street to alley east
of Columbia Street.
Alley East of Michigan Street from Oakside Street to Woodside street.
Alley East of Columbia Street from South Street to second alley North
of South Street.
Second Alley south of Monroe Street from Columbia Street to Fellows Street.
The Board approved the Drive way for the South Bend Nash Motor Co., on
Lincoln Way East.
This being the date set, continued hearing was had on -the Assessment roll
for the Pipe sewer on Cedar Street under Improvement Resolution No;I656. In the above
matter, no guarantee bond having been filed covering -this contract, and the'Board
decides to continue hearing on same for another week, or until October 27th., I926.
This being the dace set, hearings were had on the following Assessment
Rolls:
-- Curb, sidewalk and pavement on -Esther street from Jefferson Street to
Wayne Street under Improvement Resolution No.I596.
Pavement on Wayne Street from Harriett Street to Eighteenth Street under
Improvement Resolution No.I597. I
Grade, curb and walk on y°ilber Street from Lincoln Way West to Elwood
Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.I565.
Pavement of the center strip on Portage Avenue from Keller Street to
Wilson street under Improvement Resolution No.I692.
Pavement on Phillippa Street from Division street to the N. J. I. & I.
R. R. under Improvement Resolution No.I6I9.
Pavement on Oakside Street from Michigan Street to Fellows Street under
Improvement Resolution No.I609.
In all of the above matters, no remonstrators appeared and n.o written
remonstrance was filed and the Board being fully advised in the premises, finds that
the lots and tracts of land which have been assessed for said improvements on the
above -rolls, have -been benefited in the amounts as shown on said rolls, and therefore,
The Board declares said rolls October. I2th., and October I3th., I926, in all things
ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed.

Fairview Avenue from Michigan Street to Fellows Street to accordance with the terms
of the contract between the City and Reith Riley Construction'Co., under'iitrprovement
resolution No.1683. Board approved and signed same in the amount of 850.00.

Bids having been received for the pavement of the
first alley south of Jefferson Blvd.., from St. Joseph Street to alley east of St.
Joseph Street Lmder Improvement resolution No.I757, and the property owners having
waived all objections on and in defense to any defect in said proceedings, the
Board this 20th., day of October I926, hereby, awards the contract for said improveme
to Hoban & Roach at their low bid of 697.00.
Bids having been received for the pavement of Twenty Secor
Street from youth Line of lots 65 and66 in Jefferson Heights addition to the north li
of McKinley Street, under Improvement resolution No.I742, the Board this 20th., day
of October, I926, hereby makes a preliminary order for sheet asphalt as the time of
pavement with which said street shall be improved and sets the 3,td. , day of November
I9260 as the time when said Board shall either pass on petitions for changing the
type of pavement other than that ordered in the preliminary award, award the contract
or reject all bids. Board hereby awards the contract for said improvement to the
Y=illiston Construction o., at their low bid of 6,533.92.
Bids having been received for the pavement of the fourth
alley east of Michigan Street from Ohio Street to Keasey�Street under Improvement
Resolution No.I738, the Board. this 20th., day of October, I926, hereby makes a
preliminary order for concrete as the type of pavement with which said alle
be improved and sets the 2nd.y shall
, day of November, I926, es the time when the.Bor-rd shall
either pass on petitions for changing the type of pavement other than that specified
in the preliminary order, award the contract or reject all bids. Board 'hereby awards
the contract for said improvement to Hoban and Roach at their low bid of 748.60.

bids of the following improvements:
Sewer on Nash Street from Indiana Avenue to a point-462 feet

Bids having been received for the construction of a local sewer
on Magnolia Street under Improvement Res oluti cri Co.I739, the Board this 20th, ; day
of October., 1926, hereby awards the contract for said improvement to the L. H. Webster
at his low bid of I,023.60.
Bids having been received for the construction af a local :sewer -on

City Engineer, 1dr. H. G. Wray, filed plans and specifications and the
Board adopted a resolution for the construction of sidewalk on the North side of Prast
Street from Johnson Street to 2nd. , alley mst of Johnson Street, under Improvement
resolution No.I758..
In the above matter, ,the Board hereby orders that on the IOth., day
of November, I926, this Board at it's office in the City Hall at 7-I5 P. M., will
meet to hear and 'receive remonstrances from -all persons whose property will be effected

by.,sand improv ment and wit decide whether the benefits to said properties will equal
the estimated cost of same as reported by the City Engineer. Board further orders
that notices of said hearing be published on the 22rid. , day of October and on the 29th.
day of October, 1926, in the News Times and Tribune, and that notices be mailed to
property owners according to law.

Both of the above resolutions having been waived, the Board hereby

Hall at 7-I5 P. V. will meetto hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose
property has been affected by said improvements and will decide whether the lots
or tracts of land have been cr will be benefited in the amounts shown on said rolls.

27th., day'of October, 1926, this Board at itts office in the City Hall at 7-I5 P. M.,
will meet to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property has been
affected by said improvements and will decide whether the lots or parcels assessed on
said rolls have been .,or will be benefited in the amounts shown on said rolls. Board
further orders that notices of the above hearings be published in the News Times'and
South Bend Tribune on the 22nd. , day of October and on the 23rd. , day of October, I926,
and that notices be mailed property owners.
This being the date set, hearing was had on thel�essment roll for
the pevement on Bronson Street under Improvement Resolution No.
In the above matter, no remonstrators appeared and no umitten
remonstrance was filed but the City Engineer, Mr. H. G. `array, finds that the cost
of straight curb should have been .45� a lineal foot instead of .60¢, and the Board
I; therefore, orders the clerk to make this change in the roll and pro -rate the
reduction over the entire district. The Board being fulling advised in'the premises
finds that the lots and parcels pf land which are assessed on s aid roll, have been
benefited in the amounts as shown on the modified roll and therefore deElares said
