Board met in regular session at 9:00 A.m. All members present.
The matter of paving of William Street between Colfax Avenue and Lincoln Way West
and Diagonal Street connecting the Southerly end of Portage Avenue with north end of
Wood Street from Mirion Street to Navarre Street, running east of said Diagonal Street
takenup and discussed with John Schaub and Ray Schaub of the Williston Construction
Company, Contractors on above mentioned streets, and said Williston Construction
Company is hereby ordered to commence work on said contracts for paving immediately.
Engineer signed assessment rolls and finale estimates for sheet asphalt
pavement on Wayne Street from Harriett Street to a line between Swly. corner of lot 67
& Wly. corner of Lot 166 in Sunnymede Addition, as provided. in improvement Resolution
No. 1535.
Sewer on Sunnymede Avenue from Harriett Street to a point 15 feet East
of West line of Lot 302 Sunnymede Addition as provided in Improvement Resolution No,
1567.
Grade, curb and walk and pavement on Jacob Street from Jefferson Blvd.
to Mayne Street north, as provided in improvement Resolution No, 1458.
Assessment rolls adopted and final estimates allowed. Notice of
adoption of the assessment rolls and of hearing upon the same on the 21st. day of
October 1925 at 7:15 P.M. ordered published as provided by law.

To the Honorable Board of Public Works,

City of South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen: -
The County Council is favorable to a new bridge at Ernsberger Street,:
and have requested the undersigned to have prepared plans and specifications, and
the estimate of the cost of said new bridge, but are insisting that the undersigned
take up with your Honorable Board and the Board of Works of the City of Mishawaka,, this,
proposition.
1st. That the two Boards should agree on the paving of that part of the street
leading to, the `Ernsberger Bridge from the South.

2n.d. That your Honorable Board t ke the negessa teps to procure the
right-of-way if necessary, and the approach to said bridge oh th north.
The County Council are insistent that this be done before any expense
is gone to, in the way of preparation for the construction of the new bridge.
We are not asking that this be done this fall, that is, the paving of
the street and the securing of the proper approaches to the bridge on the North side, bit
but an expression or agreement from you that the same will be taken care of by you when
the proper time demands it. ;�

VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 106. e
1esolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,
/Indiana: That it is desirable to vacate t • ca a he following. The alley south of Sample
Street from Franklin Street to the alley west of Franklin Street, Also the Alley West
of Franklin Street from Sample Street to a point two hundred ninety and five tenths
(290.51) feet south of the south line of Sample Street. j
The following property may be injuriously or benefically affected
by such vacation: Beginning at the southwest corner of Sample Street and Franklin Stree�,
thence south alohg the west line of Franklin Street to the north line of Garst Street,
thence west along the north line of Garst Street and said line produced west, a dis-
tance of two hundred and seventy five (2751) feet, thence north and parallel to the
west line of Franklin Street to the south line of Sample Street, thence east along the!
south line of Sample Street a distance of two hundred and seventy five �(275t) feet to t
the place of beginning.
Notice of this resolutionxshall be publis4ed on the 16th. day of October
October and on the 23rd. day of October 1925 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and News
dimes.
This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the llth. day of j

bond dated July 15,1922 with Fidelity & Deposit Company of l aryland as surety. Same
referred -to the Engineerin;� Department for report.
Request from Indiana Bell Telephone Company to place 17-35 foot
poles in the section boundted by Lincoln =fay West, Prast Blvd. Olive Street and
Goodiand Avenue, streets in part of Lincoln Manor Addition. Approved, request granted.
The following recommendations of Light Inspector Qualls approved.
A 1000 lumen light radial reflector bracket construction to be
placed on east end of Colfax Avenue where it joins the alley east of Adams Street.

Change 1000 lumen light now at Olive Street and Poland Street and
Kaley Street and Poland Street from 1000 lumen lights to 4000 lumen li#hts. Approved.

Financial report of the Building.Department for the month of
September 192.5 filed.
In re complaint from D. J. Kelly in regard to two cables that cross
the alley which connects Laurel and Pine Streets, inspector filed following report.
The cables complainbd off in attached communication are the signal cables of the N. Y.
C. R. R. which drop from the poles to 6he signal control boxes of the Railroad Company.
/As these are on the railroad company's right-of-way and the n alley" referred to is
not an alley but a part of the company's right-of-way, so I am informed, I do not
believe we would have the right to order them changed. Approved.
