MEETING - IIARCH 17, 1941
NUN THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of South Benc
Indiaria, that all public streets, alleys and public places dedicated to the public use
in said plat, are hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on behalf of the
City of South Bend, Indiana.
A petition for the vacation of the alley North of Colfax Ave., from Hill St. East
to the alley East of Hill St., was received from Rev. :'Pendell P. Corcoran. This peti-
tion -,-Pas turned over to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report.
ELECTRIC DEPI-iRUliENT: It was moved, seconded and unanimously adapted that the report
of Mr. Qualls, on the petition for a street lirrht at the corner of Dundee and Huron
St. be accepted. Mr. (Qualls does not approve of an additional light at this inter-
section. A copy of this report -eras sent to Councilman Wm. Pulaski.
TRAFFIC CC:II:iISSICN: A petition was received from Smith -Monroe Co., to cut back _the
curb in front of their place of business. This petition was turned over to Mr. Ernest
Alliller, Traffic Engineer for investigation and report.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned
at 11:00 A. IM.

street department, now working as the bomb man, be given an increase of 0.05 per hour,
making his rate $.65 per hour.
ENGINEERING DEPART-rlENT The Board approved the plan for the proposed drive -way for the
H. D. Lee Mercantile Co., at 405 E. 1Iadison St.
h occupancy bond in the amount of $1000.00 was received for Oden R. Robertson,
this bond was approved and ordered filed.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the report of the Traffic
• Engineer, Ernest ?biller, be accepted and that the petition of the Smith-lllonroe Co,,
1912 S. 1,11a n St., to cut back the curb in front of their place of business, be denied.
This ceing the date set for the nearing on the resolution heretofore adopted by
the Board for the vacation of the alley North of Corby Blvd., from Frances St., to
Eddy St., except the North and South intersecting alley, and the hearing on said
resolution having been set for 10:00 A. M. on the 24th day of March 1941 and publica-
tion having been made in the South Bend Tribune and the South Bend Mirror on the
7th day of March and the 14th day of I,iarch, 1941, respectively, and being now 10-30
A. Imo. on March 24th, and no remonstrances having; been filed 'vrith the Board, and no
one having appeared in opposition to said resolution, it was moved, seconded and un-
animously carried that the resolution #2505 vacating said alley be finally adopted
• and said alley be vacated.
The Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assessment roll covering the
benefits and damages to the surrounding property.

ENGINEERING DEPART14LITT: A petition presented by the Sollitt Constr. Co., to cut back
the curb_ on V1. Vdayne St., just west of La Fayette St., was denied.
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following resolution
was adopted, that cut backs into curbs for diagonal and perpendicular parking will not
be granted unless it is sl}own to be clearly for the benefit of the public in general.
A continuation certificate on the bond for the Sollitt Constr. Co., was received.
This certificate was approved and ordered filed.
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following resolution
w,, s adopted, that the heads of all City Departments, a representative of the 11t .P.A. ,
of the State Highway Commission and of the County Highvvay Commission be informed of
the following rule of procedure set up by the City Water Works and ordered to make` the
reports therein required. Said rule reads as follows:
