A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Tuesday, November 12th,
1940 at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read
and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $7035.71 were approved and ordered paid.
Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $7796.65 were approved and
]'ordered -paid.

ENGINEERING DEPARTIMENT: The Board approved the plans submitted by P. Schumacher

Sons for the Wilsey Drug Store, for a curb out on W. Sample St., 2910" wide.
A contractor's Bond was received for C. R. Kline & Son, Wyatt, Indiana,
which bond

was approved and ordered filed.
DEDICATION
Whereas the following described plat with dedication of streets and alleys
indicat-
ed thereon, is now presented to the Board
ROBING'UOOD PLACE is laid out on the following described real estate situated
in St.
Joseph County, in the State of Indiana, to -wit:
The South Two and Sixty-six hundredths (2.66) acres of the East half (EWL)
of the Southeast quarter (SE-1) of the Southeast quarter (SE4) of the

Southeast quarter (SE') of Section Number Thirty One (31), Township
Number Thirty -Eight (38) North, Range Number Three (3) East, more part-
icularly described as follows, viz: Beginning at the Southeast corner
of said Section, running thence North three hundred fifty-two (352)
feet, thence Test Three Hundred Thirty- (330) feet, thence South Three
Hundred Fifty-two (352) feet to the South line of said Section, thence
East along said South line, Three Hundred Thirty (330) feet to the place
of beginning.
The lots in said subdivision are numbered from One (1) to Eleven (11) inclusive.
An easement is reserved over the rear Four (4) feet of each of said lots,
and
along the South line of Lot Number Six (6) and�Lot Number Eleven (11) in said
sub-
division, respectively, for the use of public ttilities.
The setback line shall be not less than Forty (40) feet for lots numbered One (1)
Two (2), Three (3).. Four ( 4 ) and Five (5), and not less than Thirty-five ( 35 ) feet for
lots numbered Six (6) to eleven (11) inclusive, in said Subdivision. A side line set-
back of.Fifteen (15) feet is hereby established with reference to Lot Number One (1)
and Lot.Number Five (5) inssaid Subdivision, as shovrn by the plat thereof.
The streets in said addition as indicated on the plat, are hereby dedicated to the
public for public use.

now therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of South Bend, the
all public streets, alleys and public places be dedicated to the public use in said plat
is hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on behalf of the City of South
Bend, Indiana.
ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Qualls was present and reported that a 1000 lumen lamp had
been installed on Arnold St., at the alley between Indiana Ave,, and Prairie Ave., also wo
two boulevard type lights 2500 lumen output on the north side of Western Ave., in the
first half-block,west of Main St.
He also reported that a 1000 lumen lamp had been installed on Wilber St., at the
entrance to Longley St.
The mayor has referred to this Board, a letter from J. B. Emmons, Chairman of the
State Legion Convention Committee, whose convention is to be held in South Bend, August
16, 17, 18 and 19, 1941, asking permission to use the Council Chambers for committee
meetings during that period.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that they be given permission to use
the Council Chambers at such hours when the use of same will not interfer with the meet-
ings of the Common Council or the City Court.
The Board approved the purchase of a Burroughs Bookkeeping Machine, to be used by
the Controllerts Gffice, at a price of $1492.50.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: This being the day set for the hearing on the resolution here-
tofore adopted by the Board for the vacation of the alley north of Fassnacht Ave., from
the West line of Brookfield Street to the East.line of the alley Jest of Brookfield St.,
also from the Nest line of the alley West of Brookfield St., to the East line of Johnson
St., and the hearing on said resolution having been set for 10:00 A. M. on the 18th
day of November, 19 40 and publication having been made in the SoL,th Bend Tribune and
the South Bend Mirror on the first day of November and the 8th day of November, 1940
