A regular meeting of the Board of Public orks eras held on Monday, February 19,
1940 at 1:30 P. TI. All members were present. T:Tinutes of the last meeting were read

STREET DEPART?ET�,�T: The Street Co_Tmnissioner, Tony Zmudzinski was present and matters
pertaining o h- 1: department were ci scussed.
A letter was received. from A. Johnson, 1015 E. Madison St., with regard to open-
ing the entrance to null St., from Francis St. This was referred to the Civic Planning
Assn. with a request for a petition from the property o:,-ners.
The Board, requested 11r. Z:r_udzinsxli to have the seven bones and hoist, belonging
to the City, brought in from the farm of Mr. James Pierce and stored on the Street
Department property.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the greeting adjourned

The City Engineer presented specifications for the purchase of a notarized 1800
gallon street flusher, which specifications were unanir+_ously adopted by the Board.
The Clerk of the Board is instructed to publish notice in the South Bend Tribune for
bids on February 28th and March 6th, 1940, bids to be received on or before the 11th
day of I11arch at 10.-00 A. M., at which time bids will be publically opened and read,
The Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to ch.arg p1.00 each unless otherwise
instructed by the Board, for all specifications for contracts with this Board, taken

from the office, which money will be refunded upon the return of the specifications.
BUILDING DEPA.RTIIETvT: Y.1r. Healy of the Healy Sigh Co.,1242 S. Michigan St. has
applied to t1ie Building Commissioner for permit to install signs on the railroad
viaduct at Trlichi�,an Street, for the purpose of advertising the Studebaker Out -door
Show.
The Studebaker Corporation has obtained permission from the railroad company
to install such signs, and an appeal having been made to the Board of Public Works
and Safety from the Building Commissioner, the Board herewith authorizes the Building
Commissioner to grant 'the Mealy Sign Co., a permit for the installation of temporary
• signs on the railroad viaduct at Ir1ichi`an Street, for the ?:purpose of advertising
the Studebaker Gut -door Show.
111r. Healy is requested to obtain a copy of the letter from the railroad company
granting the Studebaker Corporation permission to install said signs on the viaduct,
to be filed with this merlorandum.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned
