SPECIAL MEETINGJULY 26, 1939
SPECIAL MEETING of the Board of Public4orks and Safety was hold on Wednesday, July
26,, 1939. The meeting was called by all members for the purpose of entering into a con
tract with the Hurwich iron Company and for the purpose of awarding the garbage contracti
under specifications adopted July 3,, 1939, and advertised according to law.
A contract was entered into between the City Of South Bend by its Board of Public
Works and Safety for the sale of streetcar rails, tie plates and copper binding in accor-
dance with the minutes of the meeting of July 24, 1939. This contract was ordered
placed on file in the office of the Board.
Stanley Piers, being the lowest and best bidder for the garbage contract, is now
awarded the bid on the basis of bi-weekly collection in metal -covered type bodies to be
furnished by the contractor at an annual consideration of ��20,000. to be paid in twelve
equal monthly installments,, the contract to run from Januar 1. 1940 to December 31,194L
The contractor is instructed to furnish bond in the sum of,110,000. as prescribed by thell
specifications within five days from date. ii
- The certified checks of James H.Pierce and the Terminal Service Company are now
ordered to be returned.
The purpose of the meeting having been accomplished, the meeting was adjourned.
