Regular meeting of the Board of Public 'IIorks was held on Monday, January 23,
1 39, at 9:15 A.Iv% All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were
read and approved. Claims for payroll in the amount of %0473.50 and of McClave Printing
Company in the amount of �>15.50 were approved and ordered paid.
This being the date set for hearing of final assessment roll on Vacation Resolution
No. 2499, which has to do with the vacation of Wayne Street from St. Louis Blvd. West
and also alleys in Howard Park w1aich had not been previously vacated, and no remonstrant'
having been filed and no one having_ appeared in opposition to said assessment roll, said,
assessment roll is now approved ana confirmed and damages and benefits are finally
assessed as stated therein.
✓IY'Ir. Zmudzinski, the . Street Coinmission.er, was present and discussed with the Board
the possibility of purchas".nng pushcarts for the purpose of cleaning streets. He was
advised by the Board to ascertain prices on these c��rts. Mr. Zmudzinski filed an in-
ventory of all tool equipment in his department as of January 16, 1939, as had been
previously requested by the Board.
Qualls was present and discussed the lighting situation in the underpass at
Western and '?Yalnut Streets. He said these lights. are regulated by an electrically con-
trolled clock whi ch furnishes power at that 1 oint from. ohm dour after §upset and until
one hour before;anrise. These lights are tied in with t =le general lighting system.
/1f. McNabb, City Cemetery Sexton, was present and was authorized to investigate
the prices of covering a `rave ten,-, size 14x21 and to purchase covering from such
dealer as can furnish the best price, taking into consideration quality and material.

Apetition for vacation of an alleys oath of Prairie Avenue fr:;m the East line of
Dorothy Street to the west line of the alley east was referred to the City Ban Depart-
ment for investis-_ation and report.
'`A petition for vacation of the alley between Lots 48, 49, 50 and 51 in Baker and
McHenryl s Addition to the city of South Bend was referred t o the City Plan Department for
investigation and report.
