HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/28/1938 Board of Public Works MinutesVA petition asking that a street light be installed at the intersection of Madison a Sommers Street was presented to the Board and referred to Mr. _Qualls for investigation a recommendation. r/TheDepartment of Public' Parks requested that a permit fee be cancelled upon the construction of a shelter house in Rum Village Park, also that the fees be cancelled covering the building of the administration building in Howard Park. In view of the fact that the latter was temporarily held up pending decision of the City Plan Commissio this was rejected. It was, however, decided to cancel the fees covering the shelter hou in Ran Village Parka Bids were received from the Fairbanks -Morse and Company of Chicag9, also A. N. Emm.in ger of South Bend, representative of the Howe Scale.Company of Chicago, for -the instal- lation of new scales of 20 ton capacity, 34'x 9 feet platform, to=be installed at the, Central Fire Station. Final decision with reference to the purchase of these scales was held pending a report from the. County Treasurer to the City Controller as to collec- tions on fall taxes to ascertain if sufficient funds will be available for the purchase and installation of these scales during the current year. He did not recommend the installation and the Board upon regular motion seconded and carried ordered the petition placed on file. /Continuation.Certificate covering Excavation bond in favor of Adolph H. Stuhmer wa ordered filed with the original bond. The Board again eo=Isidered the question of purchasing new scales to be installed a tht Central Station, and due to the fact that the Controller was unable to determine funds available for this purpose, it was decided to postpone final decision regarding the purchase of these scales until December 19th. Clerk This being the date set, hearing was had on the assessment roll, showing the awards of damages and assessments of benefits in the matter.of the Vacation of Rayne Street from the west line of St. Louis Blvd west to a point; also several alleys not previously racated in Howard Park under Vacation Resolution No. 2497. '/In the above "named assessment roll, no rer4onstrator.s appeared and no written remote trance was filedand-the Board, being fully advised in the premises, and after hearing �11 persons interested in said assessments roll, finds that the several lots and parcels >f land have been benefitted and damaged in the amounts shown on said assessment roll. 'he Board, therefore, takes final action on said assessment roll and declares same in t11 things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceedings .losed and all proceedings had with reference to said vacation resolution No. 2497 are Lereby sustained.
