MEETING Nov. _21,-1338 - - ---
Regular meeting of the Board of Public forks,was held on Monday, November 21,
at 10:30 A. M. Mr. Hunter was absent.
Minutes of the 'previous meeting were read and approved. Claims from ,the following
suppliers were approved and 'ordered paid in the amount of $1627.70; also payroll of
the various departments for the last half of November in the amount of $2a38.OZ:

1�A communication was received from the Park Department, asking that the Board
arrange for Vacation of 165 feet of Wayne Street from the west line at St. Louis
Boulevard, also one alley south of Jefferson Boulevard from the west line of St. Louis
Blvd; also alley in rear of lots No. 191, 192, and part of 193, being the first alley
west of St. Louis Boulevard. This matter after a discussion by the Board was referred
to the City Plan -Commission for their recommendation.
Mr. Frederick° J.Anderson, City -Civil Engineer; filed plans and the Board ddopted
said plans together with the following Condemnation Resolution. -

296.5 feet south of and parallel to said East and West center line of
.Section 24, to the west line of High Street, thence South along said
west line of High Street a distance of 60 feet to a point, thence West
.along a line 358.5 feet south of and parallel to said East and West center
line of Section 24, Township 37 North, Range 2 Fast, to the North and South

North 60 feet .along- said North and South renter line of Section 24' to the

The following described property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by

Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 25th day of November and on the
2nd day of December, 1938, in the South Bend Mirror Press and the South Bend News -
Times.
This Board, at its office in the City Nall on the 5th day of December, 1938, at
10*30 A. M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affee-
ted by these proceedings.

"'A petition asking that a street light be installed at the intersection of Madison and
Sommers Street was presented to the Boardand referred to Mr. -Qualls for investigation an
recommendation.
The Department of Public Parks requested that a permit fee be cancelled upon the �
iconstruction of a shelter house in Rum Village Park, also that the fees be cancelled
covering the building of the administration building in Howard Perk. In view of the
fact that the latter was temporarily held up pending decision of the City Plan- Commissio
this was rejected. It was, however, decided to cancel the fees covering the shelter hour
in Ru& Village Park.
Bids were received from. the Fairbanks -Morse and Company of Ch cagq, also A. N. Emmin-I
ger of South Bend, representative of the Howe Scale Company of Chicago, for the instal-
lation of new scales of 20-11jon capacity, 34'x 9 feet platform, to,'be installed at the
Central Fire Station. Final decision with reference to the purchase of these scales
was held pending a report from. the County Treasurer to the City Controller as to collec-
tions on fall taxes to ascertain if sufficient funds will be available for the purchase j
and installation of these scales during the current year.

V/Ylr. Qualls reported upon a petition requesting a street light at Madison and Som-
mers Street. He did not recommend the installation and the Board upon regular motion
seconded and carried ordered the petition placed on file. Ii
�Continuation.Certificate covering Excavation bond in favor of Adolph H. Stuhmer wal
ordered filed with the original bond.
The Board again m_n�sidered the question of purchasing new scales to be installed a,
tht Central Station, and due to the fact that the Controller was unable to determine i •
funds available for this purpose, it was decided to postpone final decision regarding
the p rchase of these scales until December 19th.
