Mr. Hunter was absent. Minutes of the 'previous meeting were read and approved. This matter after a discussion by the Board was referred to the City Plan -Commission for their recommendation. Mr. Frederick° J.Anderson, City -Civil Engineer; filed plans and the Board ddopted said plans together with the following Condemnation Resolution. - ,/RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIAt11A.- That the following described property be appropriated for the use of said city: . Zillmer Board of Public Works 0 41. i "'A petition asking that a street light be installed at the intersection of Madison and Sommers Street was presented to the Boardand referred to Mr. -Qualls for investigation an recommendation. The Department of Public Parks requested that a permit fee be cancelled upon the � iconstruction of a shelter house in Rum Village Park, also that the fees be cancelled covering the building of the administration building in Howard Perk. In view of the fact that the latter was temporarily held up pending decision of the City Plan- Commissio this was rejected. It was, however, decided to cancel the fees covering the shelter hour in Ru& Village Park. Bids were received from. the Fairbanks -Morse and Company of Ch cagq, also A. N. Emmin-I ger of South Bend, representative of the Howe Scale Company of Chicago, for the instal- lation of new scales of 20-11jon capacity, 34'x 9 feet platform, to,'be installed at the Central Fire Station. Final decision with reference to the purchase of these scales was held pending a report from. the County Treasurer to the City Controller as to collec- tions on fall taxes to ascertain if sufficient funds will be available for the purchase j and installation of these scales during the current year. Qualls reported upon a petition requesting a street light at Madison and Som- mers Street. He did not recommend the installation and the Board upon regular motion seconded and carried ordered the petition placed on file.
