A communication was received from 4., G. Crabill, represe".nt.ing the Grand. Trunk
Railroad in 'which it was stated that definite has been received. from the State Highway
Department that the Department will install from 19259 Federal funds flasher light sig-
na.ls with short arm automatic -gates at their Greenlawn Avenue crossi.rig. Also that the
same installation will be made where State Road ivo. 123 crosses the._ rack at /I.P. 96.42
The Board decided to defer action regarding this matter, giving the Railroad the oppor-
tunity of installing these signals as soon after the first of the year as possible. Tie
Clerk was instructed to keep in touch with the matter to see that it is accomplished.
'f. City Traffic Engineer Miller called attention to the guard railing on the south
side of Colfax Avenue bridge at the race and the north side of LaSalle Avenue Bridge
at the race, stating that some of this railing is missing and should be replaced for
the protection of pedestrians. The Board_ directed than the Street Lepartmen.t be instru
cted to erect the proper railings.

for attention..

A sketch of civic property on Lincoln uvay Es.st, east of the Grand Trunk Railroad
was sub-raitted by the Engineering Department an6 referred to' the City Lttorney for his
recommendation.
Apetition iking for the installation of a street light at the intersection of an
alley in.the 700 block on South Columbia Dtreet was referred to 14r. walls for investi-
gation and recommendation.
'The Street Commissioner, in reply to a reouest of the Board to investigate the pave
ment in the 100 and 200 blocks on South Meade Street advised that this will take practi-
cally a new pavement end that the hngineering Depart_raent could _make a better report than
the Street Department. The street will have to be leveller and filled in becEjuse of
some depressions that are.two feet deep. The metter was referred to the Engineering
Dep, artrnent for further report.
This being the date set for -postponed hearing of Vacation Resolutions Ao. 2491,
24921 and 2493, and the easements to -property not having been completed by the Metropol-
ztan Life Ins. Co.,-, the -matter was postponed for nine weeks, or until November 19, 1938.
