Regular meeting of the Board of Public vtiorks was held on Monday, Sept. 18, at
9:45 A. M. All members were present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were readand approved.. Claims from the follow- i
ing suppliers in the amount of $459.13 were approved and. ordered paid:

✓ Mr. Watterson sand Mr. Utter, representing the Northern
Inda_na Railway Company,
were present to consider a petition signed by 188 residents
who live tributary to the
Fellows Street bus, in which it is requested that the daily
service be extended end
also Sunday service increased. After thoroughly discussing
the matter, the Board re-
quested these representatives to make a thorough survey and
be in a position to report
at the neat regular meeting any suggestions that they may have
for extending this ser-,
vice.

Mr. F. J. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, submitted the
following resolution for
the vacation of streets and alleys bounded by 4alnut Street
on the west, Webster on
the east, Ewing on the south, and Donald on the north, same
being Resolution No. 2497

Beginning at the north east corner of Walnut Street
and Ewing Avenue, thence north along the east line of Walnut
street to the north line of Donald Street, thence east along
said north line of Donald Street to the center line of 'the
Alley west of Swygart Avenue, thence north along said center
line of Alley west of Swygar-t Avenue and said center line
projected to the South line of Prairie avenue, thence north-
easterly along said south line of Prairie Avenue to the center
line of the Alley west of Webster Street, thence south along
said center line of the Alley West of Webster Street to the
north line of Donald Street, thence east along said north I
line of Dona16 Street to the west line of Webster Street,
thence south along said west line of arebster Street to the
north line of Ewing Avenue, thence west along said north j
line of Ewing Avenue to Walnut _treet, the place of beginning.

Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 29th day of eptew_'-)er and on I
the 6th day of October, 1938, in the South Bend Tribune and South. Bend News -Times.
This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the loth day of October, 1938, at
10:00 A. MI. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affec-
ted by these proceedings.

"Revised bids were received from various contractors to build a hose tower at
No.. 9 Fire Station, but all bids being higher then the board was justified in paying
the matter was postponed for fther oonsideration and all bids were rejected.

The Board agreed with Mr. Reed of the Reed Contracting Company of Mishawaka.,
to transport the cement mixer to be used on `Washington Street proJeet, from Mishawaka
to Walnut and Washington Streets, and that Rocco Simeri agreed to transport it for
$30.00. It was also ordered that a motorcycle escort be arranged for to transport the
mixer from the City Limits to Washington Street and 4a lnut Streets to prevent traffic
accidents, since the transportation caravan cannot be stopped in going through red
lights, particularly on a grade. The Clerk was ordered to arrange for this transpor-
tation.
V' A -petition was received from residents and property owners in the 100 block and.
200 blocks on South Meade Street, requesting that the pavement be repaired in those
two blocks. The matter was referred to the Street Department for attention.
` This being the date set for hearing of Vacation Resolutions No. 2491, 2492, and .
2493, and Mr. Chester Perkins not being prepared to furnish easements on the property,
the hearing was postponed for four weeks, or until October 17, 1938.
/ Renewal Certificate on Contractors' Bonds in favor of Charles. E. Emmons was ap-
proved by the Board.
