All members were present minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. - (Claims in the amount of $842.37 from the following suppliers were approved and ordered paid; also payroll for the Street, Sewed, Cemetery and Building Departments. Lynn Min zey 253.40 Martin Xaniewski 37.50 Whiteoriib a Keller 254.04 Indiana Institutional Industries 33.76. �Mr. Longenecker, City Sexton, submitted his report of activities of the City Cemetery for the month of March, showing collections of.$1643.44, of which $1261.94. is for, perpetual care. This report is on file. ✓ A. petition requesting the erection of the street light on O'Brien Street be- tween Orange and Linden btreets were presented by 23 residents in that vicinity. This petition was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and recommendation. ' ✓ Mr. Andersoh, City Civil Engineer, filed plans and the Board adopted said plans together with the following Vacation Resolution: COPY OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2494 '/RESOLVED BY TH 1 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORK: OF THL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it is desirable to vacate the following: ALLEY SOUTH OF JEFFEERSON BOULEVARD from Lincoln'dWay East to a point 120 feet north, more particu-larly described as follows: Beginning at a point on the north line of Lincoln wWay East 253.03 feet southeasterly from the north west corner of lot 77 in the Original Plat of South Bend, thence northeasterly at right angles to the north line of Lincoln Way East a distance of 120 feet to the southerly line of an alley parallel to Lincoln Way East, thence southeasterly along said alley a distance of 12 feet, thence southwesterly along a line 12 feet distant from and parallel to the aforementioned line at right angles to Lincoln Way East to the northeAy line /f Lincoln Way East, thence northwesterly along the north line of bincolh Way East a distance of 12 feet to the place of beginning. Hunter Board of Public "Works, 'IA petition signed by 11 property owners and residents living in the 500 block on South Meade Street requested the vacatim of an alley south of Huron Street from Meade Street to the first alley west of ivleade Street. This matter was referred to the City Plan Commission and. they will investigate and report at their earliest -con- venience. ✓ A reouest was received through Councilman George Hull and Councilman George Goetz for thy: erection of a street light at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 1020 North Wilbur Street-, The matter was discussed and Mr. (,walls was instructed to convey with the Pastor and have a 1000 lumen light erected at the most advan- tageous point. v114r. Aaron Huguenard, representative of the Sinclair Refining Company, deliv eyed to the Board a Quit Claim Deed , transferring to the -City a part of Lot No.26 in Edward Sorin's first Addition for use as a public street and for no other pur- pose so long as the Sinclair.Refining Company is permitted to use said niece of land as a driveway entering their property.
