`Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday at 10:30 A. M.
All members were present.

carried that bids be secured for the paint -
a report on all petitions which he has in
lights in various parts of the City.
A petition was received for the establishment of a street light at St. Marys of
the Holy Rosary Polish National Church, 835 South Koeciuszko Street. This petition
was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and recommendation.
A petition was received for the establishment of a street light at the Corner
o.f Phillippa Street and Indiana Avenue. This petition was referred to Mr. tau alls for
investigation and recommendation.
The Flasher Maintenance Agreement was received prope--ly signed by officials of
the State Highway Commission of Indiana, covering the operation and maintenance of
traffic signals on all State Highways in the City of South Bend, covering a period of
one year from January 12, 1938 to Dec. 31, 1938. This contract is placed on file in
the office of the Board of Public Works.
✓A petition signed by the South Bend Dowel Works was presented to the Board, askin
for the vacation of an alley west of Lafayette street from Indiana Avenue to the south
line of Creed's Second Addition. This petition was referred to the Engineering Depart
ment for investigation and recommendation.
This being the date set for consideration of Vacation Resolutions No. 2491, 2492,
and 2493, anc Mr. Chester A. Perkins being present, after discussion of the matter
concerning the easements of the public utilities, definite action concerning the resol
utions was postponed for two weeks, or until March 28.
Approaches to Service Station at the corner of Eddy -.and Sorin Streets for Mrs.
Fannie From were a-
pproved by the Board, according to blue print furnished.
The Board discussed the result of a meeting with the State Highway Commission
last week at which time it was found that the Commission does not and will not be res-
ponsible for the cleaning of State Highways throughout the City. It was therefore de-
cided and Mr. Weer was given instructions to discontinue the cleaning of these streets
immediately.
Meeting adjourned at 11: 30 A. M.
