M. Mr. Woodward was absent. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims, from the following suppliers, in the amount of $4,'672.22 were approved and ordered paid. Indiana & Mich. This report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Works. V A petition signed by five property owners, requesting that a local sewer be installed in Pulaski Street from West Indiana Avenue to the railroad, was received. The Board decided to withhold consideration of this petition for two weeks. • Surety bond of contractor was approved in favor of Mauro Siste in the National �! Casualty Company. JCommunieation was received from the South Bend Bait Company requesting that the Board consider constructing sidewalk the entire length of the 1900 black on McKinley Avenue where the McKinley School is located. After considering this matter, the Board instructed the Clerk to communicate with h1r. Ed Smith, Super- intendent of School Buildings, to ascertain if they would be interested in furnishing the material, in which event the Street Department would lay the walk and furnish the labor. The question of collection of sewer flushing charges was brought up and discussed with Mr. Weer. It was decided that on all requests for flushing Mr. I'"jeer attempt to collect the charge in advance or at the time the work is done and that in all such cases where collections are not possible at the time of doing the work the Clerk shall send statements and endeavor to collect by mail, and after a reasonable effort in this manner the account is not collectible, charges I shall be cancelled.
