All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims in the amount of $3,615.32, from the following suppliers, were approved and ordered paid, also payrolls of the various departments amounting to $7,385.50. This was approved and petition filed. Continuation certificate in favor of Sylvester Queer, covering surety bond, was approved. r Contractor's bond in favor of Charles E. Emmons in the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland was approved. i J A petition signed by a number of residents and property owners was presented, requesting that Oliver Street from the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Dubail j Street be projected south through the vacant field now existing to the continuation I of Oliver Street from Bruce Street to West Ewing Avenue. After a discussion, it was • 1 decided by the Board to defer action on this petition until its regular meeting October llth. 'Communication was received from the Traveler's Insurance Company calling attention to repairs needed in boiler No. 2 at the City Hall. The Board instructed the Clerk to have repairs made by the Bock Boiler & Welding Works. i �A petition signed by sixteen property owners requested that the alley from Huron Street to Monroe Street be improved. This was referred to the Street Department for attention. �A. petition signed by nine property owners was presented to the Board, requesting that Vine Street from 28th to 30th Streets be improved by the construction of concrete • pavement. This matter was referred to the Street Department for investigation and attention. �.Mr. Anderson reported that the Street Department had been instructed to cut the weeds on the strip of land where the Southern Michigan Railroad removed its tracks between Angella and Pokagon. I ` The Board,_approved plat of Casmierts Sub -Division of Lot 50 in Jackson's Proposed Addition with the following dedication: CASMIER'S SUBDIVISION LOT 50 JACKSON'S PROPOSED ADDITION The annexed plat of Casmier's Sub -Division is a subdivision of Lot 50 Jackson's Proposed Addition, more particular described as follows, to wit: "Beginning on the East line of Johnson Street, as laid out by the city of South Bend, Indiana, at a point Nine hundred fifty six and twenty six hundreths (956.26') feet North and Thirteen hundred and forty two (1,3421) feet East of the center of section Thirty four (34) Township thirty eight (38) North, Range Two (2) East, which point is the Southwest corner of lot 50 in Jackson's Proposed Addition, thence North along the East line of Johnson Street a distance of One hundred thirty two (1321) feet to the. -Northwest corner of said lot 50, thence East along the North line of said lot 50 a distance of Two hundred and sixty two (262t) feet to the Northeast corner of said • lot 50, which point is on the West line of Brookfield Street, thence South along the West line of said Brookfield Street a distance of One hundred thirty two (132t) ft. to the Southeast corner of said lot 50, thence West along the South line of said lot 50 a distance of Two hundred sixty two (2621) feet to the place of beginning. All in section thirty four (34) Township thirty eight (38) North, Range Two (2) East, St. Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana." The plat contains six (6) lots numbered from One (1) to six (6) inclusive. The size of the lots and the width of the streets and alleys are shown on the plat in feet and fractions thereof. The North and South alley is hereby dedicated to the Public I for the use of the Public as a Public thoroughfare. Johnson Street and Brookfield j • Street have already been dedicated as Public thoroughfares. 3%1 The North one-third (1/3) of"the West one-half of lot 50 in Jackson's proposed Addition is owned by the Union Trust Company., The South two-thirds (2/3) of the West one-half of said lot 50 is owned by Orville C. Denniston, and the East one-half of said lot 50 is owned by James F. Casmier. The above three (3) owners retain their respective interest in said lot 50. The Union Trust Company's interest becomes lot No. l in Casmier's Subdivision, Orville C. Denniston's interest becomes lots two (2) and three (3) and James F. Casmier's interest becomes lots four (4), five (5) and six (6) in said Casm.ier's (subdivision. The above owners hereby join in the dedication of this plat for the purpose ,of being able to dispose of their respective lots by deeding according to lot numbers instead of a meets and bounds descriptions, together with all other advantages accruing to a recorded plat. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, filed plans and specifications and the Board adopted said plans together with the following improvement resolution: Improvement Resolution No. 2490 for the local sewer improvement in Duey Avenue from South Bend Avenue to the alley north of St. Vincent Street. (See files for i copy of resolution.) I In the above named improvement resolution No 2490, the Board, hereby orders I� that On the 13th day of September 1937, it will meet in its office in the City • �� Hall at 10:30 A. M., to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said improvement and will decide whether the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed for said improvement will be equal to the estimated cost thereof. The Board further orders that notices of said hearing be published on the 3rd and loth day of September 1937 in the South Bend News -Times and Tribune according to law. 322 Due to Monday, September 6th, being Labor Day, the Board adjourned at 10:00 A.
