Regular meeting of the Board ofPublic Works was held on Monday, July 19, 19379
at 11:15 A. M. Mrs Hunter was absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting -were read and approved.
Claims, from the following suppliers, in the amount of $4,072.92 were approved
and ordered paid.

✓ Continuation certificate of contractors bond in favor of H. G. Christman-
Construction Company was approved.
✓ A petition was presented requesting that Duey Street, from South Bend Avenue
north a'distance of 538 ft., be improved -by -the construction of a sewer. This
petition was signed by six property owner-s -and was referred -to the Engineering
Department to make an estimate of the cost.
'A petition signed by--nine-property-owners was -present-ed to the Board requesting
that Sancam,e Avenue between Lincoln Way and LaPorte Avenue be paved with brick.
This matter was referred to the --Engineering Department for the purpose of estimating
the cost of this project.
The Board discussed -with -Mr- Weer the c-ondition-of drainage at Michigan Street
and Ewing Avenue. Mr: Anderson suggested to Mr: Weer that the iron bars on the
inlets be removed to permit a heavier flow of drainage. Mr: -Weer was also requested
to investigate the possibility of handling the excess water by the establishment of
a slough directly into the creek and Mr. Weerwas requested to report the result of
his investigation at the next -meeting.
The matter of vacations in the -Street- Department was discussed and the Board
decided that vacations would be allowed such employees -as are employed regularly
in the department, taking into consideration the fact that lay-offs necessarily
occur during the winter months, the vacations -being allowed to such as are employed
regularly from year to year.
The meeting adjourned at 1-2:00 noon.
