Regular meeting of the Board of Public Narks was held on 11onday, April 13, 1936s
at 11:50 A. M. All members
were present.
Minutes of the previous

read and approved.

A petition presented by
Alex Langel,
Portage Township Trustee,
requesting
permission to connect an eight inch sewer
with the. City sewer on Olive
Street and
Ewing Avenue to be used strictly
for sanitary
sewage from the J. Elmer Peak School.
This petition was granted and copy of it
is now on file in the office
of the Board
of Public Works.
Excavation bond in the
amount of $1,000.00
in favor of Floyd C.
Wede1 was
approved and placed on file.

ADDENDA:
Mr. Qualls submitted a report showing contemplated reduction in the cost of street
lighting and his recommendation was to make the following changes:
Discontinue Lamp No. 285 - Harris St. north of Huron St.
A 4000 lumen lamp rated at $37.20 per year.
Discontinue Lamp No. 1034 - Phillippa St. south of Huron St.
A 4000 lumen lamp rated at $37.20 per year.
Move Lamp No. 1280 - Phillippa St. north of Huron St., to
Phillipa & Huron Sts. No change in cost.'
Discontinue Lamp No. 1690 - Carlisle St. at alley south of Ford St.
A 1000 lumen lamp rated at $19.80 per year.
Change Lamp No 2804 Grace St. at alley west of Webster St.,
from 2500 lumen to 1000 lumen. The 2500 lumen lamp is rated at
$31.20 per year. The 1000 lumen lamp is rated at $19.80 per ,year.
A saving of $11.40 per year.
Change Lamp No. 1404 - Poland St. at alley east of Walnut St.,
from 4000 lumen at $37.20 per year to 1000 lumen at $19.80 per year.
A saving of 11.40 per year.
Discontinue Lamp No. 1419 - Pulaski St. at alley south of Dunham St.,
A 1000 lumen lamp at $19.80 per year.
This will create a saving of $142.80 per year. The Board adopted his suggestion as
above with the instructions that he continue to make other changes where possible until
the monthly claim of the Indiana & I ichigen Electric Company will come within the
budget set up.
Mr. Qualls also made the suggestion of turning out alternate lights on Mishawaka
Avenue to offset the expense of street light at 30th Street and TV.ishawaka Avenue and
will make a report and recommendations at the next meeting.
