The Board considered same and requested Mr. Qualls to ascertain the approximate cost of the material that would be required in case a T.P.A. project could be arranged for. 1!r. walls reported that to offset the cost of the overhead traffic signal at 30th Street and Yishawaka Avenue, he had reduced four street lights in that section of the City but that he had as yet turned out none. Mr. quells also reported having had a conference with the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company in reference to designating such light poles as are definitely out and the Electric Company desired further time to make a decision as to ;how they would like to handle this. Representatives of the Polish Central Civic Committee, namely; Mr. Joseph Buczkowski, Charles Lewinski, Councilmen Bierwagon and Palicki, requested, installation of overhead stop light at Olive Street and Western Avenue which was broken down last year. The Board informed them that there were no funds available for this purpose in this year's budget. The same Committee requested the Board to have the corners of the intersection at Walnut Street and Western Avenue rounded, so as to make it more convenient for turning corners. The Board considered this favorably and referred the matter to the Street Department. The same COYtlmittee complained that the crossings of the I?ew Jersey, Indiana & Illinois Railroad at Ford Street had not been repaired and those of the New York Central at Harris Street and Valnut Street as well and requested action. The railroads have again been communicated. Mr. Fred Christman appeared before the Board on behalf of the Standard Oil Company in regard to making changes in their filling; station at Lafayette and Washington Streets He submitted a plan which was considered and the Board approved same with limitations of the entrances. 1:r. Jacob Gorney, 1219 Western Avenue, appeared before the Board and reported that he had two sewer connections from his residence and that at the time of paving Western Avenue only one of them was connected up. After discussing this matter, the City Attorney felt some responsibility rested with the State Highway Department and it was agreed that they be communicated with in reference to the matter. Mir. Marvin K. Ort submitted a plan for breaking the curb at 525 South r"_ichige.n Street to provide for entrence to property. Ps. Ort was given permission to do this providing he has the work done by regular licensed contractor. Pas. Frenk B. Willis of 809 Greenlawn requested permission of Board to build sidewalk from their home to P;'ishawaka Avenue on the west side of Greenlawn under a. W.P.A. project. The matter was referred to the Street Department. A petition was received from residents in the vicinity of Ironwood Drive from Lincoln Way to Ewing Avenue, requesting that that street be paved with any hard substance. The Board instructed that this petition be placed on file. 0 0 • 0 209 Continuation certificate for excavation bond in favor of the Sollitt Construction Company was approved by the Board. The meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon.
