February 18, 1935 by Chairmen Anderson#' All -members were present.
Yinutes of the meting of February-11, 1935 were rend and approved.
Claims in the mount of $652.96 were approved.
John Vance apneared before the Board regarding improvenient of conditions in C61vert
St. Vest w-hich was referred to the Street Department at last week's meeting and
11r. VVeer reported, that the only thing the., t can be done was to cinder the street the
best possible until e. sewer could be extended along the street'.
Ernest J.'.Eock through his attorney Chas. Lewinski appeared before the Board regard-
iilg damage to his car estimated at $32.10 on account of running over curb at
Indiana Ave. and Swigart St. where the street narrows. It was moved., second6d end.
carried that the City Engineer investigate the conditions at this point and to
report at next meeting.,
It was moved, seconded and carried that trie Controller and Secretary of the Board
investigate the budget with a view of. determining to what appropriation the 0 ur-
chase of a certa-in piece of land front, the. Sieger lffg. Co. can be charged or if an
ordinance will be necessary. Yr. Anderson sugUested that it might be paid frorni. the

it was d-ecided to limit the operations to the number of signs we have on hand.
Mrs. Alfred Thomas of 1710 Hildreth St. through the Secretary requested that a

street light be placed at the foot of the hill at H-11dre.th ��nd Esther Sts. es it
was a dark and dangerous corner. The matter was referred to the Electrical Dept.
The Indiana Bell Telephone Conj.-any requested. permission in their letter of Feb.
7, 1935 to place underground conduit in accordan-ce rith their prints #1 and
D-6-13046-14 in ' "Nestern Ave., 11,Vp1nut St. and the alley north of Western Ave. east
of Walnut St. Upon Yr.- Qualls' investigation and recommendation, the Board
granted the perr.-Lit. •
The case of Otto Lawitske who filed a. claim with the Board of Public Works under
date of June 25th, 1934 for damages to his r,.,-r which at thet time was referred -to
the then City Attorney Iden S. Romig was brought up. Damage reported at that time
w9s $78,20. The matter was referred to the City Attorney for compromise disposition
The question of sewer pipe contract with Rocco Simeri was postponed until the
board could have a conference with 'I"r. Cox of the FERA.
A communication from the Kosciuszko Civic Club requesting repairs to sideivelks in
the west part of the city. 'L'7r. Weer reported that it had been the custom to have
the residOnts pay for material and that the work would be done with FERA labor,
and that he had orders for more of this work than his appropriation would allow.
The Board instructed hill to do this work as far as possible.
The Board approved tle placing of the following fire insurance on the City Garage
and Repair Shop:
Continental Ins. Co. of N.Y. through A.T. Eepler, Jr. agent for St. Joe Loan &
Trust Co. $8,000.00-.
Milwaukee 171echanics Ins. Co. through 0. C. Denniston, Apent, $8,000.00
The question of fire insurance on all of the city's property was brought up and the
Secretary was instructed to furnish the Board with a conplete list showing amounts
and expiration dates.
The meeting edjourned at 12 o'clock noon.
