Bill No. 02-10 -Appropriation Fund #212 -HUD Shelter Plus Program
Community and Economic Development Chairperson Tim Rouse called upon Community
Development Director Pam Meyer to make the presentation. Ms. Meyer explained that HUD
required funds intended for a service provider, in this case Madison Center, had to be funneled
through the City and appropriated by the Council. The City functions as a conduit. These funds
totaling $168,492 would cover Shelter Plus Programs through July 2010. Councilmember Oliver
Davis asked if the city could collect an administrative for this service. Ms. Meyer said no.
Councilmember Rouse said these were good programs serving both the needs of the mentally
challenged and Madison Center. Subsequently on a motion by Councilmember Puzzello
seconded by Councilmember White and supported by all the bill was sent to full Council with a
favorable recommendation.
Bil{ No. 10-02 -Personal Property Tax Abatement for Endeavor Machine
Chairperson Rouse called upon Bob Mathia of the Economic Development Department to report
on the application for abatement. Bob reported that Endeavor Machine, astar-up at 850 Marietta
was purchasing machining equipment at a cost of $437,500. A total of five new jobs would result.
Bob further stated all criteria in the petition had been met for five-year personal property
abatement. Both Jim Duszynski, President of Endeavor and Terry Sulick also of Endeavor were
present to answer questions. Councilmember Rouse welcomed the new business to town
stressing the welcome mat and spirit of cooperation the city extends to entrepreneurs.
Councilmember White motioned a favorable recommendation to Council, seconded by
Councilmember Puzzello. All supported.
Under miscellaneous Chairperson Rouse asked a time for Jeff Gibney to make a presentation to
Council regarding future Downtown Development plans.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time, Chairperson Rouse
adjourned the meeting at 4:45 p.m.
