meeting held June 25th., 1934, read and approved.
This being the date set, bids were received, opened and read for the
collection of garbage and for the disposal of garbage, and for the disposal only of
garbage, in accordance with specifications adopted by this Board on the 25ti�.., day of
June, 1934. Secretary of the Board submitted proofs of publication and same were
found sufficient. Bids are as follows:

1. `l'het the Board of Public Works of the Uity of Clouth bend, Indiana,
does hereby adopt the attached plans and specifications for lighting the streets, alle
boulevards, perks anel public places of the City of South Bend and the form of contrsct
embodying the same which the Board proposes to enter into provided a satisfactory
bid for said lightingis received. Copies of this resolution and of said plans end
specifications shall be kept on file at the office of the Board .for the use of bidders
and other interested persons.

2. That sealed bids or proposals for the furnishing of lamps and light and the
necessary maintenance of the same for the lighting of the streets, alleys, boulevards
parks and public places in the City of South bend, Ind iane, in accordance with said
plans and specifications, enclosed in an envelope directed to the Board of Public Works
of the City of South .Send, and endorsed "Proposal for Public Lighting" with the name
of the persons or corporation making the bid, will be received by the Board of Public
c orks when called for during the meeting of said Board of Public 'Works, to be heldt at
its meeting place at the office of the Board of Public Works in the City Hall in the
City of South bend, at the hour of 3 P. Me , on the 23rd. , day of July, 1934, and immed-
ietely thereafter, at said time and place and during said session of said Board of Publi
Works, all bids received will be pub'-icly opened and read and the award of the contract
if awarded, will be made by resolution of the Board of Public Rorks as soon thereafter
as practicable. A11 bids shall be upon the attached form prepares therefor by the Board
or upon a form substantially similier thereto. The -board reserves the right to reject
eny and all bids.
3. That each bidder shall file with the board of Public Works of said Uity with
his bid, an affidavit as required by law, stating that such- bidder has not directly or
indirectly entered into any combination, collusion, undertaking or agreement with any
other bidder to maintain the price of the services or contract herein specified or to
prevent any other bidder or bidders from bidding on such services or contract or to
induce any bidder or bidders to refrain from bidding on such contract or services, that
such bid is made without regard or reference to any other bid or bids and without any
agreements, undertaking or comb inationee ithe r directly or indirectly with any other
person, firm or corporation with reference to sucr bidding in any way or manner whatso-
ever.
4. Thet the said Board, on behalf of the city, cause to be published in the
South bend Tribune on(,. the South Bend News Times, newspapers of general circulation
printed and published in said City, a notice informing the public and contractors of the
general nature of the proposed lighting and of the fact that plans and specifications
therefor and for form --If contract to be entered into with the successful bidder, and
form of or approving the same, are on file tin the office of the said Board of
Public Works for the use of bidders and other interested persons, ans that sealed
proposals for such ,aps and light and the maintenance thereof in accordance with such
plens and specifications will be called for and Yeceived dlMing the meeting of said. -boas
of Public "horks to be held at its office at the time end place above fixed. Said
notice shall "e published in said newspapers once teach week for two successive weeks
the first publications to be at leest ten day prior to the d.a.t fixed for receiving bids.

5. Into bids having been received for lighting the streets, alleys, boulevards,
parks and public places in accordance with the plans and specifications adopted by this
.bop. re on the 25th., day of June, 1934, the same together with all €action of the Board
in reference thereto, are hereby rescinded and annulled.

A representative of the vew Jersey, Illinois & Indiana Railroad Uompany appeared
before the -board with reference to said companys contract for track elevation and grade
separation on Western Avenue. mr. nomig advised the railroad company's representative
that he would take the natter up with out City Engineer and endeavour to have a contract

The Board approved claims for various departments in the suk of $5,413.03.
The Board approved other claims for various departments in the sum of $726.75
endhereby orders City Uontroller to pay same when the money is available.
