It was suggested at a meeting of the Cot mon Council of south Bend, Monday
ven ing, July 24, that the Board of Works, through its Street Department, and the
ownship Trustee co-operate in trying to use Dole Labor in the cutting of weeds on
vacant property at this time.

Dear Sir:
When Mr. Cline called to see you a short time ago, I believe he reported
that you felt that you would have enough vaults to last you until some time in the i
fall. Since his call, however, it appears that the working of the National Industrial
hecovery Act v�ill have the effect of considerably increasing our costs, and. in all !+
probability will necessitate higher prices for vaults, and if you can anticipate
your needs and place your order promptly, we would be glad to give you the benefit
of present prices.

Miss Hazel A. Turner,, Clerk of the Board, reported to the -board that she had arrang-
ed to take her vacation beginning August 7 until August 21. Arrangements have been
made with City Engineer, W. S. Moore, to have -Mr. Joseph Paid relieve Miss Turner
during her absence. Miss Turner's vacation is in -compliance with the order of the
Board under date of July loth ., 1933.

The Board approved claims for various departments in the sum of 1,698.32.
The Board approved pay roll calims in the sum of $2,488.72 and hereby order City
Controller to pay same.
