The Board approved pay roll claims for various depertment s in. the 11,074.92.
The .So and app ro ve d Track Elevation pay roll claims in the sum of 4433.33 and
hereby orders City Controller to pay same out of: Grade Separetion. Fund.

The following Ordinances and resolutions of the Common Council were discussed
and given cons id era.tion:
Ordinance No.2985.
An Ordinance fixing the salaries of certain city officials aid employees of
• the r.-unicipal `'ity of mouther, Irdiana, and repealing all ordinances"and parts of
ordinances in conflict therewith.
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of South -bend, Indiana:
I
Section 1. That the annual salaries for the fbllowing municipal city officials
and employees of the city of South -bend, State cf Indiana , for the remainder of the
year 1932, and for the entire year of 1933, be, and the same are, hereby, fixed to
become effective as of June is t. , 1932 , as follows to -wit:
Mayor's Clerk 1,425.00
Controller's Clerk 19425.00
• Supt. Water Dept. 4 250.00
Street Commissioner 31230.00
Genera 1 Foreman of Street llept 1,980.00
City Sexton 1,900.00
Suet. of Police 8c Fire Alarm.
Signals 3,060.00
Inspector Wghts & Measures 1,900.00
Section 2. That the salaries of the members cf the Police and Fire Departments
remain as now fixed by ordinance, except that fbr the remminder of the present year
the same be, and are hereby, reduced from and. after June 1st. , 1932, fifteen days (15)
pay pro -rated over a tvjelve month period.
• Section 3. That the salaries of all other non -statutory officials clerk s
or employees of the City or of any department t here of are hereby reduced as follows:
Those rece i vinK- 03, 500.00 or more, fifteen (15%) per cent ; those receiving less
that 39500.00 and 42,000.00 or more, ten (10%); those receiving less than $2,000.00
and $1, 000.00 or more, five per cent, (5%) .
Section 4. Th^t all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict '.:herewith are
hereby expressly r epialed .

An Ordinance providing f-or the appointment of a Street Commissioner and fixing
his salary; eliminating and vacating the Deputy
office of a Street Commissioner and
repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith. '
Be it ordained by t he Common Council of the Cit y of South Bend., Indiana �
Section 1. That the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana , be,
and here by i s authorized
and empowere d to c- ppoint a Street Commissioner.
Section. 2 • That the sal^ ry of said Street Commissioner shall be Three Thousand Two '
Hundred Thirty ($39230.00) Dollars

per year, which salary shell be paid at such times
as other sale Ties are paid.
Section 3. That the office of a Deputy Street Commissioner, be and the same is here-

by forthwith eleiminated, vacated, aid declared
non-existent.

That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
expressly repealed.

ment be elimim ted; and
Be it still further resolved that the City Clerk forthwith transmit a certified
copy of this resolution to the 1118yor and to each of the executive departments of the
C it y; and.
Be it still further resolved that within five (5) days after receipt from the '
City Clerk of a certified copy of this resolution, the Mayor and also the heads of the
several executive departments of the City separately notify the Common Council b

After -giving, the above ordinances anc resolutions of the Common Council their
careful consideration, the Board ordered the Clerk to invite the members of the Fees
;and Salaries Committee of the Common Council to attend the Board of Works meeting on
Tuesday, May 31st., 1932, at 10-45 A. M., in order that the metters referred to in
aaid resolutions andordinances may be taken up with this Committee.
