have been inspected for interference.
Print Ho.25. This job is a complete rebuilOinp of construction in the alley between
Jefferson and Iffayne Street s, from St. Louis to Edd.y Street An and erground dip
is to be brought out of rrnnhole at alley on Jefferson between St. Louis and 6t.
Peter and at Frances Street. This will cross Jefferson �`treet iij both places. All
the rest of the work is aerial cable construction.
Print N10.26. This calls for installation cf cable and removal of aerial open wires
in the alley between Ford and Orchard Street from Scott Street to Chapin Street. -
Print Elo.27. This is a cable installation, replacing- three poles with new, and re-
moval of open wire, in the alley between Orchard_ and Dunham Streets from boott Street
to Chapin Street.

All of this construction is for the betterment of Plant conditions by
replacing old poles that are decayed., removing open r;Tire and installing cable. There
are on]-tr a few instances where the street surface will have to be broten for under-
ground install<tions and these are on streets where the surface is badly in need
of repairs an, a,

The Boarc approved the installeti.on of a 1000 lumen light at the corner
of " bert Court end 28ih . , Street, at a cost of-?22.00 per ;,7ear. Albert Court has

The hoard approved claims for carious departrrnts totaling, '?2,624.25.
The Board approved. the installption of the fbllcuing street lights:
4000 lumen light at the corner of Scott Street and Indiana Avenue �t a cost
of `345.00 per veer.
4000 lumen light at the corner of rv'ilber and Lawnd.ale avenue at a cost of
='?45. 0.0 per y mr .
2500 lurtien light at the corner of 2600 block on Necome Street at e. cost of
a35.00 per year.
1000 lumen light at the corner of Carroll and East Fox Street.at a cost of
22.00 per trear. This light was moved from alley east of Carroll on Fox to Carroll St.
1000 lumen light at the corner of Brookfield aid Longley ,Avenue at a cost
of �22.00 per y eer.
The Board ordered Building Commissioner, D. l,'ooma.w, to draw up specif'ice-
tions for the repair of the wall at the central fire station. Bids on same to be
re ce,' ved Tuesday, 11py 3rd ., 19321, at 10: 00 A. Y. The Board further orders that notices
of said bids shall be published on the 23rd. , day of April and on the 30th. ; day of
April, 1932, in the South Bend Nears Tiros and Tribune. Specifications for said work

The:: work to be done and er th is contra ct consis is of the re construction
of the parapet walls on the Central Fire Station of South Bend. .
The building is 100 feet long and the walls mentioned above extend along
the long dimension of the East and Vilest sides of the buiking with return walls about
3 feet , more or less, a t the south end of each wall. About one-th ird of the East Tall
is already doirn and the usable materia_1 salveM- d.
The bidders shall satisfy themselves as to the nature and amount of this
work and the amount of mate rial wh ich ma y be salvage d f Cr use under the condi. Lions

In removing the pre sent gall, the stone coping and face brick shall be
salvaged.. The back up brick shall be removed and all soft and unsound brick shall be
• ! removed from the premises and disposed of by the contractor.
Any material stored or piled upon the roof shall be placed upon a platform
of 2 inch planks and such material d',all be distributed in such a manner as not to
owe rloa d the roof structure of the building,
Any breaks or abrasions of the roof -covering caused in the prosecution
Of this.work shall be covered to protect against leaking during the vrork and shall
be repaired in a satisfactory and workmanshiplike ma.kner as soon as the rasonry work
i s c omple t ed .
• The new well shall be built of the sane dimensions and outline as the
origim.1 wall. Where new face brick may be required they shall be furnished to match
the present brick as nearly as passible and shall be placed together in inconspicuous
i� locations as directed by the Fire Chief.

Brick for becking up the face shall be herd bLwned and, 'of durable wuality,
free from kiln cracks, sand spots and calcined lime pebbles. Samples of back-up brick
shall .1ce submitted to the Buildinp Commissioner for, approval before delivery to the job.
Mot -,tar for laying up this brick work shall be of suci,, proportions of send, lime and
portla-And cement as will produce a mixture, which, upon hardenIng, will adhere firmly
to the brick and will be resistant to weathering action.
All joints shall conform to the *type of joints in the present wall and
all verti cal aid horizontal joints shall be filled with mortar.
The face and beck -up courses of 'brick shall be tied together with g9lv-,_,n-_ J
ized. or asphalted and Corrupated'wall ties spaced not more than twelve inches a-ncLrt
