Board met in regular session at 9 A. Psi. All members present. Minutes of
meetings held.,May 20th., and May 21st., 1930, read and. appmoved.
City Engineer, B. G. Fray, filed plans an6_ specifications and estimates
and. the Board. adopted said plans and specific ^tions to&et%er with the following improve-
ment resolutions:
Imp rovertient-Hesolution No. 2372 for the local sevrer in'Yelkus Court between
Oak Street and Lincoln Way ffest.. (See files for copy cf resolution.)
Imimovement Resolution No.2373 for the pavement of Melkns Court from Oak
Street to Lincoln Way pest. ( See files for copy of resolution.)
In both of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby orders
that on. the ISth., day of June I930,. this Board will meet in their office in the City
Nall at 7-I5 P. 11,. , to hear and ieceive remonstrances from all persons interested in
or affected by said improvements and will decide whether the benefits to the several
lots andp@rcels of land liable to be assessed for said impivverants will be equal to
the estimated costs'of same as reported by the City Engineer. `'L e Board further orders
that notices of said hearings shall be published on the 30th., day of Iday and on the
6th. , day of June I930 ,. in the South Bend Tribune and Mirror according to law and that
notices be mailed to property owners according to law.
No petitions having, been filed f or a change in the type f pavement other
than that specified in the p re�iminary order for the pavement of . Eddy treet. ( a 3 foot
strip on each side of the County pavement) fran North curb line of South Bend Avenue to
City Limits under Improvement -hesolution No.2342, the Boerd this 27th.9 day of May 1930
hereby makes a final. order for concrete pavement as the type of pavement with which said
street shall.be improved and awards the contract for said improvement to Gross Construct
Company at their low bid of $6,107.02 for concrete 7bavement.
No petitions having been filed for a change in the type of pavement other
than that specified in the preliminary order for the pavement of Greenlawn Avenue from
Mishawaka Avenue to Sunnymede Avenue under improvement Resolution No.2265, the Board
this 27th. , day of May 1930, hereby makes a final order for sheet asphalt pavement as
the type of pavement with which said street shall be improved and. awards the contract
far saidimprovement to Albert Construction Company, at their low bid CC 025,384.85 for
sheet asphalt heavy traffic pavement.
City %pineer, F. G. Wray, submitted a report on the petition for a change
in the type of pa w ment other then that specified in the preliminary order for the pave-
ment of Oakside Street from Michigan Street to Main Street under Improvement Resolution
No.2336, showing that 2 resident property cwners out cf three have petitioned for
asphaltic concrete.

men. t instead or concrete pavement, the Board this 27 th . , day cC May 19309 hereby makes
a final order for asphaltic concrete pavermnt as the type of pavement with which said
street shall be improved and awards the contract for said improvement to Albert Const.,
Company at their low bid of 39334.60 for a sphaltie concrete pavement.

modified. Improvement Resolution No,2357 This shows 6 resident pnperty owners, one
having signed the remonstrance. This does not constitute a majority therefore the
Board orders bids to be received on June IOth., 1930, as preiriously, ordered.
Bids having been received for the local sewer in Lddy Street from St.
Vincent street to City Limits under Improvement Resolution No.23411 the Board this 27th
day cf May 1930, hereby wards the contract for saidimprovement to A. Spad.oni at iais
low bid of I, 650.58.
City Engineer H. G. Wray.- filed partial estimate No.I for the grade,
curb and walk im?orovenent on S rin Street under Improvement Resolution No.2327 in accord
ance with the terms of the contract between the City and. 1. N. Barnes. The Board signed
land approved sarre in the amount of $I,920.78.
I' The Board approved the final estimate for the grade, curb and. walk improv
ment on L-nderson Avenue from King Street to Bulls Street under Improvement Resolution
No.2207 in the amount of 2,858,58, as submitted by City Engineer, H. G. Wray.
The Board approved the petition of the Isaak Walton League and the South
,Bend Board Club to place the sign abrows- Michigan Street as petitioned for under date of
� lay 27th., 1930.

In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that this
';Board will have a hearing on said assessment mll in their office in the City H 11 on the
110th., day of June I930, at I0:00.A. Me: to hear and receive remonstrrnces from aall
persons whose property has been assessed for. said improvement and will decides whether
..the several lots and parcels of land have been or will be benefited in the amounts shown

This being the date set, continued hearing was had on Improvement Resolu-
jt ion No. 23 62 for the widening and pavement of Portage Avenue ffom south curb line of
avarre Street to Keller Street.
In the above named improvement resolution, remonstrators ' app eared but
ao written remonstrance was filed and the Board., being fully advised on the premises
decides to modify said resolution to read as follows:
"Widen and pavement Portage A -venue from the south curb line of Elwood
• Avenue to Keller btreet."
With this modification, finds that the benefits to khe several lots and
eparcels of land liable to be assessed for said improvement will be equal 'to the modified
stimated cost of same as reported by the City Engineer and that the improvement is nec-
essary and therefore, the board, d-cues to take final action on said modified resolution
land declares same in all things rat ified, conf irnsed and. approved as mod ified.
The Board approved claims fbr various departments in the amount of

The hoard approved two claims of the -New York Central Hailzoad Company
n connection with Track Elevation work in the amount of $2,946.83 and $6,287.83 for work
n connection with with 1odified Track Elevation Resolution No.4 and hereby orders City
ontroller to pay same out of Track Elevation Fund.
• Upon the re comme nd ^t ion of Fire 8hld<f Roy Knowbloc k, the board approved
the proposal of Harry Koehler for painting nose uouse i�o.7 with 2 coats of lead and oil
pa ilfthng Hose house No.7 with 2 coats of lead and oil and painting the scale house with
2 coats of lead and oil at a total cost of 03529009 sane to be paid out of appvopriation

pavement of the alley west of Cushing Street under Improvement Resolution No.2310.
In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that on
the I8th., day of June 1930, this Board will meet in -their office in the City Hall at
7-I5 P. M. , to hee.r and re cei ve remonstrance s from all persons who se prope rty has been
assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the bevefdlidots and parcels of
land have been or will be benefited in the amounts shown on said roll or in a greater
or less sum than that shown on said roll. The Board further orders that notices of

City Engineer, H. G. Wray, filed the final estimate for the p avemen t
of the alley west of Cushing Street from a point 132' South of Grand View Avenue to a
point 162 feet north of Oak Street under Improvement Resolution No.23IO and the Board
signed and approved same in the amount of $630000.
City Engineer H. G. Wray, submitted partial estimate No.I f cr -the
pavement of the alley west of �aylcr Street from LaSalle Avenue to the first alley
north of LaSalle Avenue in accordance with the terms of the contract between the City
and Frame and Zimmer, Contractors, under Improvement Resolution No.235I. The Board
signed and approved sane in the amount of $387.94.
City Engineer H. G. Wray, submitted partial. estimate No.I for the
pavement of the alley west of Aiversi de Drive from St. Joseph Street to Navarre Street
in accordance with the terms of the contract between the City and Frame and Zimmer,
Contractors, under Improvement Resolution No.2349. The Board signed and approved same
in the amount of $11344.61*
