City :�n,gineer, H. G. 1,7ray, filed the following primary assessment rolls:
Assessment roll for the pavement of Yeade Street from Lincoln Flay 'Alest to!
t Elwood v.enue under Impro-gement 'resolution No.2227.
' Assessment roll for the sidewalk improvement on LaSalle Avenue from
,7a1sh Street to EddyStreet under Im . ovement Resolution No.2248.
Assessment roll for the grade, curb and walk improvement on Grant Street
from 'lashington Avenue to Metry Avenye under Improvement Resolution No.2250.
In all of the above named assessment rolls, the Board, hereby, orders
that on the 25th., day of September 1929, this Board will meet in their office in
the City Hall at 7-I5 P. Y. , to hear and receive remonstrances from all _persons whose
-property has been assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the several
lots and parcels of land have been or will be benefited in the amounts shown on said
assessment rolls or in a greater or less sum than that sho,rvm on said rolls. The
Board further orders that notices of said hearings shall be published on the I8th. ,
day of September and on the I9th. , day of "eptember I929, in the South Bend News Times:,
and Tribune according to law. •
This being the date set, hearing -,Vas had on Improvement Resolution No.
2288 for the grading of the alley south of victoria Street from alley east of �?iami
Street to Clyde Street.
In the above named improvement resolution, no remonstrators appeared and
no written remonstrances were filed and the Board, being fully advised in the premises
finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed
for said improvement will )e equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the
City Engineer. Therefore, the Board decides to take final action on said imTrovement
resolution and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The
Board now orders that on the Ist. , day of October I929, this Board will receive, open
and. read sealed proposals for the construction of said improvement up to I0 :00 A. ?T.
The Board further orders that notices of said proRosals shall be published on the
18th. , day of September and on the 25th. , day of September I929, in the South Bend
Flews Times and Tribune according to law.
The Board signed the contract with -Vhitdomb and 'Keller for the grade,
curb and walk improvement on Farneman Street from ?richigan Street to ''gain Street under !
Improvement Resolution 771o.2I77 in the amount of �I,713.50. The Board also approved
the construction bond of same in the amount of I00% of the contract price signed by
Standard Surety and Casualty Company.
The Board a-oproved the construction of a light at the corner of the
alley on 7illiam Street bet7rreen Jefferson and 7ashington-Street. -
The Board approved the installation of a 4000 lumen light at. the corner
of Vassar Avenue and 71ilbur Street at a cost of P-15.00 per year.
This being; the date set, bias e—:?e received, opened and read for the
grading of the alley south of Donald Street from Sampson Street to Robinson Street
under Improvement Resoluti din No.2280. Bids are as follows:

City Engineer, T-i. G. ':dray submitted the follo7.aing report on the petition
for°..a� ehange_iin the type of pavement other than that specified in the preliminary
order for the -pavement on Prairie Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.2275:
"There are 75 resident freeholders, 33 of whorp have signed the petition
for asphaltic concrete pavement. This does not constitute a majority and I would
therefore recommend that a final order be made for sheet asphalt.

for the pavement of Donald Street under Improvement Resolution No.2273:
"There are 47 resident freeholders, 27 of whom have signed the petition .
for a change of type. This constitutes a majority and I would therefore -recommend
that a final order be made for sheet asphalt.

hereby makes a final order for sheet asphalt resurface as the type of -pavement with
which said street shall be improved and awards the contract for said improvement to
Albert Construction Company at their low bid of 129,427.&I-far sheet asphalt heavy traf
fie pa -,cement.
In the matter of Improvement -resolution No.2283 for the walk and curb on
Tashet Avenue from the jest curb line of Yichigan Street to the east curb line of VTain
Street, four -property owners having formally withdrawn their names from 'Waiver filed
in the office of -the Board; the Hoard decides to take final action on said resolution
and rescinds all former action taken and declares same null and void and the proceed-
ings closed.
Mr. J. W. NcInerny, attorney for the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Rail
way Company appeared before the Board, requesting that the preliminary resolution
adopted by the Board on the 3rd. , day of aeptember 1929, be rescinded and all action
taken on said -)reliminary resolution be declares null and void. The Board, theeefore,
declares said resolution rescinded and all former action taken on same null and void
and the proceedings closed.
The Board appro�red claims for various departments in the amount -of JI8,837.73
and hereby orders the City Controller to pay same.
