Board met in regular session at 9 A. IT. All members present.
Minutes of meetings held April 23rd., and April 24th., 1929, read and approved
The Board signed the contract with the Williston Construction Company for the
sheet asphalt pavement on Poland Street from Harris Street to New York Central Railroad
under Improvement Resolution No.2I89 in the amount of 4,25985. The Board also _approv
ed the ep,nstruetion band of same for 50% of the contract price signed by the Inland
Bonding "ompany.
The Board signed the contract with the Williston Construeti.on . Company for the
sheet asphalt pavement on Carlisle Street from Washington Avenue to Linden Avenue tinder
Improvement Resolution No.2188 in the amount of 6,668.65. 'TheBoard also approved
the construction bond of same for 50% of the contract price signed by Inland Bonding
Co.
The Board signed the contract with the Northern Indiana Construction Company
for a loea� sewer improvement on Gladstone, Albert and ydison Avenge and the alley north
of Sample treet from the east line of Belleville 3rd., Unit to `hest line of Bellevill-e
3rd. Unit tinder Improvement Resolution No.22I5 in the amount of 14,801.56. The.,
Board also approved the construction bond of same for fi00% of the contract price signed
Ay the Standard Accident Insurance Company.
The Board signed the contract with Reith Riley Construction Company for the
sheet asphalt pavement on Broadway, Street from High Street to Miami Street under Impro
vement Resolution No.2I87 in the amount of 111,515.40. The Board also approved the
construetiori bond of same for 50% of the contract price sign--�d by the Southern Surety
Company.
The Board approved the excavation bond for 4-mery Fredericks in the amount
of 11,000.00 signed by the Great American Indemnity Company of New York.
The Board approved the continuation certificate for the excavation bond in
favor of dilliam Collmer in the amount of I,000.00 signed by the gommercial Casualty
Insurance Company.

ment Resolution No,I790, the Board this 30th., day of April I929, hereby awards the
contract for said improvement to Joseph Rothwell at his low bid of 11,351.60.
Bids having been received for the grading bf the alley east of High Street
from Fairview Avenue to Irvington Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.2I90, the
Bloard this 30th., (.ay of April I929, hereby awards the contract for said improvement to
Lston Ball at his low bid of 62.25.
Bids having been received for the grading of the alley south of Fairview Aven
from High Street to Dale Avenue under Improvement Resolution esolution No.2I9I, the Board this
30th., day of April I929, awards the contract for said improvement to Eston Ball at his
low bid of 3I6.09.

of Ford Street to the north curb line of Prairie avenue under Improvement Resolution
N0.2I92, the Board this - 30th. , day of April 1929, hereby makes a prelimimry order for
sheet asphalt pavement heavy traffice pavement as the type of pavement with which said
street shall be im-oroved and sets the 14th., day of 17ay, 1929, as the time when said
Board shall either pass on petitions for a change in the type of pavement other than
that specified in the preliminary order, award the contract or reject all bids.

Avenue to a point 348 feet south of the south line of Plaasant Street under Improvement
Resolution No.2194, the Board this 30th. , day of April 1929, hereby makes a preliminary
order for concrete heavy traffic pavement as the type of pavement with which said street
shall be improved and sets the 14th., day of May 1929, as the time when said Board shall,
either pass on petitions fora change in the type of ravement other than that specified
in the preliminary order, award the contract or reject all bids.
Upon the recommendation of Wnq. F. Qualls, the Board an -proved the installation
of a 4000 lum n light at the corner of Fremont street and Keller Street at a cost of
$45.00 per year.
Jpon the recommendation of 1,11M. F. walls, I - the Board apnroved the installation
of a 4000 lumen light at the intersection of -4wood Avenue and O'Brien 6treet at a
cost of 1,45.00 per year.
This being the date set, hearings 1,,rere had on the following improvement resolu-i
tions:
Improvement esolution Wo.2208 for the grade', cubb and walk improvement on,
Bulla 'treet from Portage Avenue to Fedora Street. (See files for copy of resolution.) ii
Improvement
t Resolution _TNo.2207 for the grade, curb and walk improvement on
Anderson Avenue from 'King Street to Blulla 'street. (See files for copy of resolution.)
In both of the above named improvement resolutions, no remonstrators appeared
and no written remonstrances we-e filed and the Board, being fully advised in.the
premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be
assessed for said improvements will be equal to the estimated costs of same as reported
by the `;ity Engineer-. The Board, therefore, decides to tale final action on said
improvement resolutions and declares sane in all things ratified, con'.irmed and approved!
without modification.
In both of the above named improvement resolutions No.2207 and 2208, the Board 1
hereby orders that on the 14th., day of Yay 1929, this Board will receive, open and read
sealed proposals for the construction of said improvement up to I0:00 A. 1. The Board
ftrther orders that notices of said proposals shall be published in the south Bend News
Times and Tribune on the 3rd., day of ITay and on the IOth., day of Yay, 1929, according
to law.

Board adopted said plans and specifications together with the following improvement
resolutions:

In both of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby orders
that on.the 22nd., day of TiTay, 1929, this Boardwillmeet in their office in the City
Hall at 7-15 P. Tri. , to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property
is liable to be assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the benefits
to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessgd for said improvements will
be eaual to the estimated costs of same as reported by the �;ity Engineer. The Board
furt�er orders that notices of ' said hearings shall be published on the 3rd. day of
Vay and on the IOth. , day of May, 1929, in the South Bend N,ws 'Times and Tribune and
that notices be sent to porperty owners according to law.

This being the date set. continued hearing.was had on Vacation Aesolution
No.2I96 for the Vacation of Bridge ltreet_from Colfax Avenue to LaSalle Avenue.
In the above named vacation resolution, the Board decides to continue #ear-
ing same until Tuesday, Yay 7th. , I929, at I0:00 A. fi7.
This being the date set, hearing was had on Vacation Resolution No.2209
for the variation of the alley south of Altgeld Street from Clyde Street to the east lin
of Yiami Heights Addition. (See files for copy of resolution.)
In the above named vacation resolution, no remonstrators appeared and no jl
written remonstrance was filed and the Board decides to take final action on said 11
vacation resolution No.2209 and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and ;I
approved and the alley vacated.
The Board now orders that a list or roll be prepared of all owners and i!
hold ers of property and of valuable interests therein sought to be taken, which list
or roll shall also describe:' -the r,ropert--r beneficially affected.

the property beneficially affected by .such condemnation. The Board, hereby appoints 1ii
Edward Pfeiffer and David Gibson as appraisors to determine the values of property
taken under said condemnation resolution No.22I1.

In all of the above named assessment rolls, the Board hereby ord ers that
on the Nth., day of May 1929, this Board will meet in their office at 10:00 A. 1T.,
to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by
said vacations and will decide whether the several lots and parcels of land have been
or will be benefited or damaged,in the amounts named on said assessment rolls or in
a greater or less sum than that named on said rolls.The Board, -further orders that
