Board met in regular session at 9 A. Y. All members ;resent.
I1-inutes of meetings held Yarch 19th. , and March 20th. , 1929, read and
approved..
The Board signed the contr,�:et with C. 17. Reesh for the construction of
-
a local sewer in 6ntuc cy 6treet between Washington and Division. Street under Improve`-
ment Resolution No.2I82 in the amount of 2,454.80. The Board: also approved the construct
ion bond of sae for I00°6 of the contract price signed by the United States r=uarantee
Company.
The Board signed the contract with C. E. Reesh for the construction of
a local sewer in Vedd.e Street between Lincoln Way West and Vlwood Avenue under Improve-
ment Resolution No.2I83 in the amount of 2,977.IO. The Board also al)broved the con-
straction bond of same for I00% of the' contract price signed by the United States
Guarantee Company.
The Board signed the contract with Edward Di Julio for the construction of
a local seaver in Fremont Street from Elwood A venye to Keller Str=et under Im-orovement
Resolution No.218I in the amount of 2,806.10. The Board also approved the constru,ct,ioh
bond of same for Ir)O of the contract -.rice signed by the Standard accident Insurance
Cis mpR ny.
The Board approved the renewal certificate for the excavation bond of
Fred Putter signed by the London and Lancashire' Indemnity Clompeny of American.
The Board approved the renewal certificate for the excavation bond of
Albert W. Smith signed by the Yetropolitan Casualty Insurance Company of New York.
The Board approved a.private driveway located at I506 Kemble Avenue.
aids having been received for the construction of a local sewer in Bendix
Drive from Vlashingtgn Avenue to Ist. alley north of Division Street and in Jefferson
Street from Bendix rive to Liberty street under Improvement Resolution No.2154, the
Board this 26th., day of March 1929, hereby wxards the contract for this improvement
to Edward DiJulio at his low bid of 2,959.60.
This being the date set, bids were received opened and read for the

In the above named improvement Resolution, the Board hereby orders that
on the I7th., day of April I9291 this Board will meet -in their office in the City Hall
at 7-I5 P. 1%, to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property may
be affected by said improvement and will decide whether the several lots and parcels
of land will be benefited in the amount shown on the engineers estimate. The Board
father orders that notice of said hearing shall be published on the 29th'day of March
and on the 5th. , day of April 1929 in the South Bend News Times and Tribune according
to law and that notices be mailed to property ovmers according to law.
�j City Engineer, R. G. '-dray, filed plans and the Board adopted said plans
together with Vacation Resolution No.2I96 for the Vacation of Bridge Street from
Colfax Avenue to LaSalle Avenue. (See files for copy of resolution.)
In the above named vacation resolution No.2I9%, the Board hereby orders
. that on the I7th. , day of April 1929, this Board will meet in their office in the City
Ball at 7-I5 P. h ., to hear and receive remonstrances from all -persons interested in
or affected by such vacation. The Board further orders that notices of said hearing

Upon the �ecommendation-of Jm. F. 'walls, the Board approved the
petition of the TreCaffery ompany for locating a flood light at the corner of St.
Joseph and the
Street, to flood the new filling station that is now under construct
ion. This will enable us to discontinue a street light at this corner at a saving
of $50,00 per year.
Upon the recommendation -)f 101m. F. Qualls, the Board approved the
installation of a I000 lumen light, bracket construction from over head service on
a wooden ppole at the alley east 'of Hamden �;ourt between Oak Street and West LaSalle
Avenue. €%ost to be $22.00 per year.
Upon the recommendation' of Wm. R. Qualls and H. G. Wray-, the Board
approved the petition of the Indiana and 14chigan Electric Company to install trans-
former vaults at the north west, corner of Yonroe and l!ichigan "treet; between the
curb and property line on Idest 4.�ashington Avenue at the end of FranMin Street; also
to install ventilating grates in a transfer vault now located in 'front of the wool,w6rth
Building, on Michigan Street, all as shown on drawings attached to said petition dated
March Ilth. , 1929:
The Board approved pay rolls in the amount of JIO,93I.26 and hereby
orders City Controller to pay same.
The Board approved z�ay roll for grade separation work in favor of
H. G. �'�ray, City '' gineer and Hazel A. Turner, Clerk, in the amount of $433.33 and
hereby orders the City Controller to pay same out of the Track Elevation fund.
The Board approved claims in the amount of 451.21 for various depart-
:vents.
Upon the recommendation of City Attorney, I. S. Romig, the Board
approved a claim in the amount of M58.47 to be paid out of Refunds, awards and
indemnities, in the matter of the property belon=ling to -Adam 1. S. Hilbourn for the
' Kline street widening and condemnation. This amount of 258.47 represents the amount
of benefits assessed to this lot, plus the interest, and �72.00, which amount is the
'i,difference between 250.00, ( the amount ordered by the 'court) and-178.00, (the amount.
,' originally awarded him for d amages on the assessment roll.
The Board adopted the following Resolution No.2I08A.

Whereas, Proceedings have heretofore been had by this Board with its
Resolution Number 2108 for the construction of the so-called Bergan-Johnson Sub -Trunk S
Sewer, in the City of 6outh Bend, Indiana; and
Whereas, Contract has-been let and construction work has been started
under said Resolution Number 2I08 as adopted July IOth., 1928 and later confirmed, and
said worl� is now in process; and
Whereas, It has come to the attention of this Board that said Resolu-
.'tion and subsequent proceedings thereunder may have been defective in that the area or
district to be beneficially affected by such sewer has nor been properly bounded and
described; and
Whereas, No objection has;' at any time, been made to the construction
.of such sub trunk and the work of constructing the same is now in process.
Now, Therefore, for the -purpose of correctly describing the boundary '
line of the distret or area to be drained by said sub trunk and to be assessed therefor
and for the -purpose of correcting or supplying any such defect in sadd Resolution No.
2I08 and proceedings subsequent thereto, all in fonformity with the -provisions of
Sections I0569 and II200 of Burns Revised Statutes of 1926; be it
Resolved, That the following proceedings be had to supply and to
,'correct any such defect as above set forth.
