i' This being the date set, hearings were had on the following improve-
ment resolutions:
Improvement Resolution No. 2189 for the pavement of Poland street, from
Harris Street to New York Central Railroad. (S'ee files for copy of resolution.) 1
Improvement Resolution No.2188 for the Pavement of Carlisle Street
ii frogg ,1ashington avenue to Linden Avenue. (See files for copy of resolution.) i
Improvement Resolution No.2I85 for the pavement of Bissell Street from
giddy Street to the east line of 2nd. , Plat of Park Place Addition.( See files for copy
of resolution.)
Improvement Resolution 17o.2I87 for the pavement of Broadway from High
Street to Viami Street. (See files for copy of resolution.)
In all of the above named improve?ent resolutions, remonstrators
appeared but no written remonstrances were filed and the Board, being fully advised in
the premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land' liable
i to be assessed for said improvements will be equal to the estimated costs of same. The
Board, therefore, decides to take final action on said improvement resolutions, over
i ruling said remonstrances, and declares said improvement resolutions in all things ratif"i
ed confirmed and approved without modification. '

In all of the above named improvementresolutions, the Board hereby
April,
orders that on the 2nd. , day of 1929, bids will be received, opened and read for;.
the construction of saind improvements up to IO:00 A. Ts. The Board further orders
that notices of said rroposals shall be published in the South Bend News Times and
Tribune on the 22nd. , day of I -"arch and on the .29th. , .day of Parch 1929, according to
law. "
This being the date set, hearing was had'on Improvement Resolation �
No.2I86 for the-raver;ent of Bowman Street From Sampson Street to Ernsperger Street. (Sep;

In the above named improvement resolution, remonstrators appeared but
no written --emonstrances were filed and after hearing all persons interested in saidit
improvement, the Board decides to continue hearing on same until April IOth. , I929,
at 7-I5 F. Y.
City Engineer, H. G. Wray, fildd plans, specifications and estimates
and the Board adopted said plans and specifications together with the following improve;
ment resolutions:
wImprovement Resolution No.2I92 for the pavement of Chapin Street from
the north line of Ford Street to north curb line of rairie Avenue. (See files for
copy of resolution.) I
Improvement Resolution No.2I93 for the pavement of Ruskin Street from
Oakland street to Clover Street. (See files for reablution, )

Improvement Resolution No.2I94 for the pavement of Twenty -Sixth Street j
from TRishawaka Avenue to a point 394 feet south of the south line of .Pleasant Street, l

In all of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby
orders that on the IOth., day of April I929, this Board will lieetr to hear and receive ii
remonstrances from all persons whose property is liable to be assessed by said improve 1
ments and will decide whether the benefits to the several lots and j
parcels of land liable to be assessed by such improvement will be equal to the estimated
costs of same as reported by the City Engineer. The Board further orders that notices
of said hearings shall be .published on the 23rd. , day of ''arch and on the 30th. , day of
March 1929, in the ''outh Bend News Times and Tribune and that notices be mailed to
property owners ac-,ording to law. i�
The Board signed the contract with John F. Hips:Lind for the construction
of an emergency sewer in Sorin Street under Improvement Resolution T?o.2I84 in the
amount of 3,413.00. The Board also approved the construction bond of same for T00% of i
the contract price signed by the 10tandfrd "ecident Tnsura.nce Company.

stre-t shall be improved and sets the 2nd., day of April, 1929, as the time when said".

Gentlemen:
Our attention has been directed to the large number of high power lights":
that are now located in rockets where there is no benefit to be derived from them.
These pockets, in the cases referred to at this time, have been caused by the track
elevation.
Lapp No.6I6, a 6000 lumen lamp at 50.00 per year, is located on Webster
Street between Grace Street and the Railroad elevation. It would undoubtedly make
this rocket ve3:7 dark to nave light at all yet there is no necessity for a-6000
lumen lamp.
recommend -that the 6000mlumen lamp be removed a--m.d that a 2500 1-amen
lamp be installed at the corned of Webster a-r-!d Grace ''treet. The cost of the 2500
lumen lamp will be 35.00.1
A Lam No.IZSI, a 6000 lumen lamp at 50900 per year, is located on Grace
Street, west of &ebster Street. This section of Grace Street ends at the alley west
of "Yebtter and I can see no necessity for a 6000 lumen lamp. At the alley west of •
Webster Street is being used extensively I' think it advisable to have a small light
to ..mark the end of the street and illuminate this alley.

for the 2500 lumen light will be 35.00.
The above changes will effect a saving of =30.00 per year.

Upon the recommendation of Wm. F. Qualls, the Board ordered a ,I000
lumen light, bracket construction, radial reflector from over head service, be.
installed at the first alley north of Portage.Avenue on Leland Avenue. The annual
rate will be 22.00..
Upon the recommendation of 711m F. Qualls, the Board ordered the
installation of a 4000 lumed light at the corner of South Yichigan street and Jennings ;!
Street at a cost of 45.00 per ,year.
7pon the recommendation of �Im. F. jualls, the Board,:ordered the install
ation of a 4000 lumen light at the corner of William, and Ewing Avenue at a cost of
45.00 -per year.
Upon the recommendation of 4m. F. Qualls, the Board ordered the install
ation of a 1000_ lumen light, bracket constru.c�ion, radial' reflector, over head
service, at the corner of William and Donald streets at a cost of 22.00 per year.
Upon the recommendation of Wm. F. Qualls, the Board approved the
petition of the Indiana Bell Telephone Company to place under ground conduit in
Mast �arrple Street, between Columbia and Clinton Streets, as outlined in their petitio
of Yarch. I5th., I929. This work veing necessary in order to provide permanent under-
ground conduit and cable plant in the proposed street depression, under the elevated
railroad trac'ces at this location.

The undersigned being the owner of the property located at 807 and 809
West Division Street, and the store room at 807 being now vacant and in need of repair
desires to improve same in order to secure rentals and to render building safe from
mischeviously inclined persons, find that on account of the existing regal tions
regarding the future set back of buildings that a building permit can not be sea red,
asks -rou permission to -ake the following repairs to the building as it now stands,
waiving all rights to collect damages from the City of all expense incurred by these
changes, due to future widening of the street.
Drop floow in the store room 10" to place same easy of access from
the street.
M.)ceavate enough basement to provide for furnace and coal bin. New
Chimney.
Place copper store iron in line with adjoining front.
The changes as enumerated to be done according to the Building
Ordinances.
