Board met in regular session at 7-I5 P.`. P`r. R. H. TCuss absent.
This being the date set, hearing was had on the assessment roll for the
award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the Vacation of the
Ist., alley east of Stanfield Street from Napoleon Street to Angella Avenue under
Vacation Resolution No.2I40.
In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no
written remonstrance was filed, and the Board, being fully advised in the premises,
finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited or damaged in the
amounts named on said assessment roll. The Board, therefore, decides to take final
action oil said assessment roll, filed January 2nd., 1929, and declares same in all
things ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed.

portion of Pine Street; and the first alley south of Monroe Street; a portion of the
alley west. of Pine atreet; and a portion of Laurel Street under Vacation Resolution
No.2058.
In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no
written remonstrances were filed, and the Board, being fully advised in the premises,
finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited or damaged in the
amounts named on said assessment roll. The Board, therefore, decides to take final
action on said assessment roll, filed January 2nd., I929, and declares same in all
things -ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed.

alley north of Washington Avenue from Su#nyside Avenue to Esther Street under Vacation;;
No.2I38.
In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no
.written remonstrances were filed, and the Board, being fully advised in the premises,
finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the;;
amounts named on said assessment roll. The Board, therefore, decides to ta'ce final 11
action on said assessment roll, filed January 2nd., 1929, and declares same in all !!
things ratified, confirmed and approved and the rroceedings closed.
The Board sign ed the contract with the Albert Construction Company for
the pavement of VanBuren Street from the west line of Cushing Street to Lawndale
Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.2I68 in the amount of 20,554.42. The Board j
also approved the construction bond of same fil the amount of 50% of the contract
price signed by the Inland Bonding Company.
The Board approved a claim of H. G.

amount of $48.74 and hereby orders City Controller to pay same out of Track Elevation

Gentlemen;
Referring to the matter of the proposed Harriett: Street bridge which has. been
discussed in previous conferences between your Board and the -Board of Public Works
of the City of South Bend with particular regard to the acquisition of property and
the build ing of the approaches
Ve recognize the imrv�tance and advantages accruing to both the city and the
county from the construction of a bridge at this site and we may be depended upon to
proceed with any proper action on the part of the city which will encourage the project"
and bring it to realization. As a result of our conferences it appears to be distinct-
ly the.obligation of the city to do certain necessary work.in connection with provid-
ing for the approaches to the bridge.
Your 3oard may be assured that the city will acquire by condemnation or purchase
the. rro-perty requirgd upon which will be constructed the abutment and wing walis on
either side of the bt. Jose -oh river. The proceedings for such condemnation or nurch_ase
will be concluded prior'to the award of the cbntract for the bridge construction.
Li?ewise, the city will provide for- the raising of the approach grade on Harriett
;Street and ultimately paving the same. eJe understand that a.preliminary fill and
;approach grade will be protrided for by your Board in the original bridge construction
contract.. We also understand that it will be necessary for the city to widen Harriett
Street for a short, distance, along the east side in order to effect the approach to
the bridge and before paling the street. The city will do it's part, as indicated,
in so far as the present Board of 'Yorks can act in the matter during 2929.
