Board met in regular session at 7-15 P. IT. John J. Olejniczak absent.
This being the date set, hearings were had on the following Improvement
Resolutions;
Improvement Resolution No.2I62 for the pavement of Laurel Street from ,
Division Street to a point 130.56 feet south of the south line of Monroe Street.

Improvement Resolution No.2I63 for the pavement of TTiner Street from east
10 line of Madison Park Addition to Harriett Street. (See files for copy of resolution,)
In both of the above named improvement resolutions, no remonstrators
appeared and no written remonstrances were filed and the Board, being fully advised in 1
the nremis'es, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable I
to be assessed for said imx,rovements will be equal to the estimated costs of same as
reported by the City Engineer. The Board, therefore to ces final action on said improve 1
men-1- resolutions and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved {
without modification.
In both of the above named improvement resolutions numbered 2162 and 2163
the Board hereby orders that sealed proposals will be received, opened and read up to.
7-I5 P. ?°'. , on the 2nd. , day of January 1929. The Board further orders that notices i
of said proposals shall be published on the 20th., day of December and on the 27th.,
day of December I928, in the South Bend News Times and Tribune according to law. i

In the above named improvement ;resolution, remonstrators appeared but
j no written remonstrance was filed. Resident bronerty owners were present asking the
1_ Board to approve:_ said resolution. After hearing all persons interested in said
imnrovem_ent resolution and being fully advised in the premises, the Board finds that
the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liabletto be assessed for said
improvement will be equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the City F4nginee .
The Board, therefore, decides to take final action on said improvement resolution and
declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification.
The Board now orders that on the 2nd., day of January 1929, this Board will receive,
open and read sealed proposals for the construction ff said improvement up to 7-I5
The Board further orders that notices of such proposals shall be published on the 20th
day of '�ecember and on the 27th. , day of December I928 in the South Bend Dews Times and
Tribune according to law.
• This being the date set, hearing was had on Improvement `resolution No.2164
for the pavement of O'Brien Street from the south line of Prast Street to the south
curb line of "erwinski 6ourt. (See files for copy of resolution.)
In the above named improvement resolution, remonstrators appeared but no
written remonstrance was filed. Upon the reg7aest of propert:;r owners, the Board decides
to continue hearing on said improvement resolution until January 9th., I929, at 7-I5 P.R,.
City Exigineer, H. G. `7ray, filed tabulations of 'bids for the construction
of the sewer o4--Bendix Drive from Washingi.on Street to Ist. , alley north of Division
• Street and on J@fferson Street from Bendix Drive to Liberty Street under Improvement
Resolution No.2154. Tabulations of bids are as follows:

City Engineer, H. G. Wray, filed plans, s oecifications and estimates and
the Board adopted said plans and specifications together with the following rovement

resolution:
Improvement Resolution No.2I73 for the widening and pavement of Portage
Avenue from the southerly line of Lot II3 Portage Park Addition projected to. Teller
Street. (See files for copy of resolution.)
In the above nan-ed improvement resolution, the Board hereby orders that
on the 2nd., day of January I929, this Board will meet in their office in the City H-al.l
at 7-I5 P. -TT., .to hear and receive remonstrances from all nersens whose property is
liable to be assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the benefits to
the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed for such improvement will
be equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the City Engineer. The Board
fdtrther orders that notices of such hearing shall be published on the I4th., da y
of December and on the 2Ist. day of December 1928 in the South Bend News `dimes and
• Tribune according to law.
Upon the recommendation of City 4igineer, H. G. Wray, the Board approved
Estimate No.3 in favor .of �illiston Construction. company in connection with `the raising
i of the approach grades on C err Hancock Arnold, Huron �P g y► , Walnut, D}visjon, Harris,

and Ford Streets, all in accordance with Resolutions No.2101 and .213I and contracts
dated July 24th and September 5th., 1928, Now York Central Railroad Wrack Elevation
South Bend, Indiana. Said Estimate in the amount of $22,323.5 signed and a proved by
Board and said Board hereby orders City Controller to paysame out of Track. 2levation
Fund.
The Board, upon the recommendation of H1 . G. lffray, City Engineer,
approved Estimate No.I in favor of Reith Riley Construction company for the grading and
paving of Subway and approaches at' Harriett Street in connection with Grand Trunk
Western Railrood Oompany Track Elevation South Bend, Indiana, all in accordance with
Resolution No.2II9, approved July 17th. , 1928 and contract dated ,August 8t �i. , 1923.
Said estimate in the amount of 17,181.20 was signed and approved by the Board and said
Board hereby orders City Controller to pay same out of Track, Elevation Fund.
The Board, upon the recommendat ion of H. G. Wray, City Engineer,
approved Estimate No.3 in favor of Rieth Riley Construction Company for labor and
material furnished in connection with the grading and paving of subways and approaches
between Chapin Street and Viami ►street inclusive, .for track elevation along.the lines
of the New York Central Railroad Company, all in accord -nee with Resolution No.2125
approved YVarch Nth. , 1928 and contract dated September 4th. , I9282 New York Central
Ele
vation, evation, South Bend, Indiana. Said estimate in the amount of $2T,062.93
was signed and approved by the Board and said Board hereby orders City Controller to
pay same out of Fra ck Elevation Fund.
Claims amounting to 118,965.45 including December payrolls, signed
and approved by the Board.
117r. Daniel Pyle, attorney for the George Loughman estate, appeared
before the Board in the matter off additional damages to be awarded said estate under
Condemnation Resolution No.2086. Upon the recommendation of. Gity Attorney, I. S. Romi
the Board agreed to pay the -Loughman Estate the additional sum of $200.00, which amoun
shall- be paid out of track elevation fund.
