Board met in regular session at 9 A. IT.
All members present.
Yinutes of meetings held June I9th. , June 20th. , and June 25tY
1928, read and approved.
The Board signed the contract with the Albert Construction
Co., for the pavement and sewer improvement in Lincoln Manor Third Addition Under
Improvement Resolution T?o.208I in the amount of 43,I89.95. The Board also approved,
the construction bond of same signed by the Inland Bonding Co.
The Board approved the contractors bond of I,000.00 in favor
of Arthur J. Piechocki.
- The Board approved the renewal certificate of I. W. Stples
for 1,000.00 signed by the American Surety Company of New York.
The Board approved the Guarantee bond of George A. Harrop
for the° Wilber Street sewer under Improvement Resolution No.I939 signed by the
Fid1lity and Deposit Company of I=aryland in the amount of $921.48.
The Board approtred the recommendation of 14m. F. .walls for
the installation of a 4000 lumen lamp mast arm construction on Railroad Street
between Taylor and Scott Street at a cost of .45.00. t
The Board approved the assignment of the contract for the
construction of sewer in Fox Street from Southeast Trunk Sewer to Sampson Street
under Improvement Resolution No.I987, by John F. Hipscind to Edward Di Julio and
also accepted the new construction bond for same signed by the 1'=aryland Casualty
Co., for I00$ of the contract price which is 2$33I.90.
The Board approved the Partial estimate No.I for the light
traffic sheet asphalt pavement on College treet from 3.wood Avenue to yeller Street
under Improvement Resolutinn No.I983 as submitted by City Engineer, H. G. gray.
The Board signed sari e in the amount of 12,285.02.
This being the date set, bids were received, opened and read
for the improvement of Tfiami Street under Improvement Resolution NO.2060. Bids are
as follows:

The Board approved the plat of John E. 7lalz's Revised Additio
to the City of South Bend, Indiana with the following Dedication:
"The undersigned hereby certifies that the annexed plat of
John E. !Valzts Revised Addition to South Bend, Indiana, is a replat of John E.
1 "Yalz's First Addition recorded in Plat Book No. IO, Page I79, and of, John T. Walz
Plat dedicating streets and alleys in the proposed plat of John E. '*Talz's Second
Addition recorded in plat Book No.I2, page 52, and is a subdivision of the following
" described tract of land:
Beginning at a point on the west line of Ylehigan Street fott
nine and seven tenths (49.7) feet measured at right angles south from the south
one eighth (I/8) "'ection line -of Section twenty-four (24), Township Thirty' -seven

alleys of dimensions indicated on the man.
The streets and alleys are hereby dedicated as pmblie highways.

the Board adopted said plans and specifications and the following improvement resolu .
tions:
Improvement resolution No.2098 for the pavement of the first alley east
of 23rd. , Street from Yishawal, Avenue to Ball Street. ( See files for copy of
resolution. )
Improvement resolution No.2099 for the pavement of the f irst alley north
of Corby Street from Niles Avenue to Stanfiled Street. (See files for copy of
resolution.)
Improvement Resolution No.2I0I for the grading of the alley south of
Dubail Avenue from Kemble! Street to Douglas ''treet. (See files for resolution.)
Improvement Resolution No.21--03 for the pavement of 'Linyon Street f rom
the east line of Portage Avenue to the east line of Lot I8I in Northwest Addition.

In all cf the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby orders
that on the 25th., clay of July, 1928, this Board will meet at 7-I5 P. Y., in their
office in the City Hall, to hear and receive remo--strances from all persons whose
property is liable to be assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the
benefits to the several lots and parcels of lam liable to be assessed for said
improvement will be equal to the estimated costs of same as reported by the City
Engineer. The Board further orders that notices of said hearings shall be published
in the South Bend News Times and Tribune on the 6th. , day of July and nn the I3th. ,
day of July, I928, and that notices be mailed to property owners according to law.
City engineer, H. G. Wray, submitted the following report on the remon-
strance against the improvement of the alley west of Rain Street from Navarre Street
.to Bartlett Street:
"There are 2I resident property holders residing n this improvement, 9 of
whom have properly signed the remonstrance. This does not constitute a majority
and I would therefore recommend that this improvement be advertis ied for bids.

City Engineer, H. G. dray, filed the following primary assessment rolls:
Assessment roll for the pavement of 23rd. , Street from Yishawaka Avenue
to a point 45 ft. , south of center line of �erslae Court projected under Improve-
ment esolut ion No. I949.
Assessment roll for the pavment of Kiner Street from Notre _Dame avenue
to Eddy Street under Improvement Resolution No.I947.
Assessment roll for the ra.vement of Stanfield Street from the nort'-i line
of Howard Street to north line of Si. Vincent Street under .Improvement, Resolution
No.1995.
In all of the above named assessment rolls, the Board hereby. orders that
on the I8th., day of July, 1928, this Board will meet in theiroffice in the City
Hall at 7-15 P. T-., to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property
has been assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the benefits to
the several lots and parcels of land primarily assessed for said improvements are
equal to the amounts shoem on said roll or in a greater or less sum,.than that shown
on said rolls. The Board further orders that notices of said hearings shall be
published on the I3th. , day of July and on the 14th. , day of July, 192.8:, ,.in the

The Board si-gned and approved claims amounting to - 3,4II..28.
The Board signed and approved salary claims amounting to
5,390.18.
The Board approved claims of I8, 33 ', . 50 and 17, 763.50 in favor
of the New York Central Railroad Com-cany for track elevation expense and salary claim
of 533.33 for track elevation, a -Ad the Board hereby ..orders the City Contrdller to
pay same out of the track elevation fund.

This being the date set, hearings were had on the following
Improvemment Resolutions:
Imam ovement Resolution No.2090 for the local sewer improvement
on Huey Street Vetwaeen the alley south of Frederickson Street and Elwood Avenue...

Improvement Resolution 11?o.2089 for the local sewer improvement
in Hildreth Street from Clover Street to a point 220 feet west. (See files for copy
of resolution.)
Improvement Resolution T1o.2084 for the local sewer improvement
in Elwood Avenue between ?Fedora Street and Huey Street. (See files for copy of
reso lution. )
In all of the above named improvement resolutions, nor emonstrat
ors appeared and no written remonstrance was filed and the Board being fully advised
in the premises, finds that the special benefits accruing to said abttting -property
are equal to the estimated costs of same as reported by the City f{ gineer. The Board,
therefore, decides to take final action on said resolutions and declares same in all !:
things ratified, confirmed and approved xraithout modification.
In the matter of Improvement Resolutions No.2090, 2089 and 2084
for local sewers in Huey Street, TTildreth Street and ulwood Avenue, the Board, hereby
orders that on the IOth., day of July, 1928, this Board will receive, open and read
sealed r.roposals up to 10:00 A. T`.J7., for the constraction of said sewers. The Board
further orders ghat not tees of said proposals shall be published on the 29th. , day
of June and one the 6th. , day of July, 1928, in the South Bend Trews Times and Tribime ..
according to law.
