Board met in regular session at 9 A. M* All members present-.
Minutes of meetings held April loth.. , and April Ilthe, , I-928, read and
approved.
The Board signed the contracts and approved - the construction bonds as
follows;
Rieth Rif ey Construction Co. , for the pavement on Miner treet from
Notre Dame, Avenue to eddy Street under Improvement Resolution NoI947. mount of
contract $7,437.26 and the construction bond for 50% of the amount of contract signed
by. the Southern Surety Co.
Rieth Riley Construction Co., for the pavement on Peashway Street
f-.2om Leeper Avenue to Southern Tilichigan Railway right-of-way under Improvement Resolu-
tion No.I980. Amount of contract 2,970.40 and the construction bond for 50% of thii.
contract is signed 'by Southern Surety Co.
Rieth Riley Construction Coo, for the-avenent of Twenty-third Street
from 11ishawaka Avenue to a point 45 feet south of the center line of Kerslake Court
projected -.finder Improvement Resolution No.I949. Contract price is 120,225..84 and a,the
cons, -ruction bond for 50;- of the contract price, is signed by the Southern Surety Co.
Hoban and Roach for the pavement on Jefferson Blvd. , from east line of
Greenlawn Avenue -to east line of Jefferson Heights Addition under Improvement Resolution
No.2045. Contract price is $24,50I.50 and the construction bond for 50» of the con-
tract price is signed by the Southern Surety Co.
Alex Bukowski for the pavement of the alley west of Maple Street from
Napier "'treet to alley north of Jefferson Street under Improvement Res olut i on No. I959.
Contract price is $2,393.50 and the construction bond -for 50% of the contract price
is signed by the United States. Fidelity and Guaranty `'o. , of Baltimore, lid.
Albert Construction Co., for the pavement of Chapin Street from Indiana
Avenue to Calvert under Improvement Resolution No.I97I. Contract price is $11,470.44

Albert Construction Co., for the. pavement of Brookfield Street from
south line of Vassar Avenue to north line of Humbolt Street under Improvement Resolu-
tion No.203I. Contract -_price is 8,095.3I and the construction bond for 50% of the
contract price is signed by the Inland Bonding Co.
Albert Construction Go., for the pavement of College -1treet from sotth
line of Vassar Avenue to the north line of Humbolt street under Improvement Resolution
No.2029. Contract price is 7,575.75 and the construction bond for 50% of the contract
price is signed by Inland Bonding Co.
" Upson the recommendation of Om. F. QQ,uaZ Is , the Board approved the _
following order for traffic signs:
Establish 110 Volt metered service for the operation of traffic signs,
at the follov-iing street intersections:
j Lincoln delay West and '�dilliam Street, Colfax and William and WashingU
and 'dilliam Street. Each of these signed to contain four 50 Watt lamps.

City Engineer, H. G. `:dray, filed partial estim to Ibo.I for the pipe

City Magineer, H. G. `:dray, filed plans and the Board adopted the follow
ing Vace-Ition Resolutions:
Vacation Resolution No.205I for the Vacation of a portion -of the alley
west of Carrol Street Street. (Insert see files for copy of resolution.)
Vacation Resolution No.2050 for the vacation of a portion of Carroll
"Street, along the New York Central Railroad right -Of -way. (Insert see files for copy
of resolution.)
Vacation Resolution No.2049 for the vacation of the alle,.�yy south of
Wayne Street from the east line of Harriett Street to the west line of �reenlawn
Avenue. (Insert see files for copy of resolution.)
Vacation of the alley along the northerly right-of-way mine of the New
York Central Railroad from the south line of Bronson Street to the west. line of Carroll
Street. ( Insert see files for copy of resolution.)
In all of the above named Vacation Resolutions, the Board hereby orders
that on the 8th., day of PJIaYy, I928, this Board will meet in their of'fc:e in the City
Hall at 10:00 A. R1., to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose .property
j mazy be affected by said vacations. The Board further orders that notifies of said
hearings shall be -published on the 20th., day of April and on the 27th., day of April
1928 in the South Bend News=Times and Tribune according to law.

City Engineer, H. G. Wray, filed plans, specifications and estimates a nd
the Board adopted the following improvement Resol- tionss
Improvement Resolution Tk?o.2047 for the construction of a local sewer in
Ting Street from center line of Blaine Avenue to the center line of Lot 19 in North
west Addition.. (Zee files for copy of resolution.)
Improvement Resolution No.2048 for the construction of a local sewer in
4a:een "treet from point I70 feet east of Blaine Avenue to the east line of LotI44
in Northwest Addit ibn. ( See files for copy of resolution.)
On both of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby orders
that on the - 2nd. , :fay of May, 1928, this Board will meet in theor office in the City
RaT.I at - 7-I5 P. PVC., to hear and receive remonst-anc es from all persons whose property
may beassessed for said improvements. and will decide whether the benefits to sadd
lots or parcels of land will be equal to the' estimated costs of sae se reported
by the City Engineer. The Board further orders that notices of said. hearings shall
be published on -.the 20th. , day of tipril and on the 27th. , day of April I928, in the
South Bend Nevis Times and Tribune, gpcording to law.
No petitions having been filed for a change in the type of pavement for the
improvement of Scott Street from Indiana Avenue to the Chicago, South"Bend and Southern
Railroad under Improvement Resolution No.I94I, the -Board this I7th., day of April
1928, hereby, makes a final order for sheet asphalt as the type af pavement with which
said street shall be improved and awards the contract for said improvement to Rieth
Briley 'onstructi on Co., at their low bid of 3,566.70.
No peitions having been filed for a change of type of pavement other than
that specified in the preliminary order for the pavement of Scott Street from i
Calvert Street to Indiana Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.I943, the Board
this 17th., day of Aril, 1928, hereby makes a final order for sheet asphalt as the
type -of pavement with which said street shall be improved and awards the contract
for said improvement to Rieth Riley Construction Co., at their low bid of tI3,697,29.
This being the date set, bids were refeived, opened and read for the follow
ing improvements:

This being the date set, hearings were had on the following improve
rpent resoluti ons
Improvement Resolution No.20I7 for the grade, curb and walk on
Kentucky Street from Crumstoi;m Road to Lincoln "gay viest. (See files for resolution.)
Improvement resolution No.20I8 for th= .grade, curb and walk on
Orange ztreet from Birdsell Otreet to alley west of Birdsell street. (See files for
resolution.) •
Improvement Resolution No 2016 for the pavement o f Ev�ring Avenue
from vest line of Leer atreet to Ernsperger Street. (See files for resolution. )
Improvement Resolution No.2036 for the pavement of the first alley
south of E1dBr Street from the east line of the 2nd., alley west of Carroll Street to
the second alley east of Michigan street. (See files for resolution.).
In all of the above named improvement resbluti ons, no remonstrators
appeared and no written remonstrance was filed and the Board, being fully advised in
the premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable
to be assessed for said improvements will be equal to the estimated costs of same
as reported by the City Civil Engineer. The Board, therefore, takes final action d)n
said dmpremnttriibiolutions and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and
ap p roved .
The Board now orders that sealed proposals will be received,- opened']
and read for the construction of the above named improvements up to I0.-00 A. M. of the
3Uh , day of May, I928. - The Board further orders that notices of said proposals shall
be published on the :_j�Z7Ztdl day of April and on the =4tlL.,, day of-��a�i;�, 1928, in the
South Bend News Times .and Tribune according to law.
This being the date set, hearing was had on Improvement Resolution
No.20I5 for the pavement of the alley west of Sherman Avenue from Oak Street to Lincoln
Way 'West. ( See files for resolution.)
In the ab ove named OLDGRjoemn Ix Improvement Resolution, remon-
strators appeared and a written remonstrance was filed and the Board, being fully
advised in the premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of
land liable to be assessed for said improvement will be e1ual to estimated cost of same.

remonstrance, and d clares said improvement resolution No.2OI5 in all things ratified,
confirmed and approved, The Board now orders the remonstrance delivered to the City
F41gineer for a check on the resident property oviners.

No. 20I9 for the pavement of Thirty-fifth Street from the south line of concrete
pavement on Jefferson Blvd., to Mishawaka Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.2OI9.
