The Board approved the f ollow'Lng :excavation Bonds
Excavation bond of Benjamin Gross- in the amount of 01,000.00
signed by the National Surety Co.
excavation Bond of George F. Bachman in the amount of $Ir000.00
signed by the Constitution Indemnity Co.
Renewal certificate for excavation for :John G. Kestler signed by
the Xattford Accident and Indemnity Co.
Upon the recommendation of City Engineer, H.G. Wray, the Board
approved the grade of the alley north of '�lahhington Avenue from Esther Street to Green -
lawn Avenue.
This being the date set, bi,- s were received, opened and read for
the construction of bavement and sewer on College, Adams and Brookfield Streets in
C. R. Smith's Subdivision under Improvement Resolution No.I976. Bids as follows:

This b ein� the date set, heir ing was had on Improvement Res olu.ti on
No.I997 for the sewer in Sample�Street from Kenmore Street to center line of Lot 991 in
3rd., Plat of -nmmit Place.
In the above named improvement resolution, no remonstrators
appeared and no written remonstrance was filed and the Board, being fully advised in the
premises, finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be
assessed for said improvement will be equal to the estimated cost of same as reported
by the City Engineer, The Board, therefore, takes final action on said Improvement
Resolution No.I997, declaring same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved, with-
out modification.
In the matter of Improvement Resolution No.I997 for the construct-
ion of a sewer in Sample Jtreet from Kenmore Itreet to center line of Lot 991 in 3rd.
Plat of bummit Place, the Board hereby orders that on the 20th. , dwy of 1%rch, I928,
this Board will receive, open and read sealed proposals up to I0:00 A. Y . The Board
further orders that notices of -said proposals shall, be published on the 8th. , day of
March and on the I5th. , day of Yjarch 1928 in the South Bend Thews Times and Tribune.
In the matter of Improvement Resolution No.I878 for the construct-
ion of a local sewer in Main Street- from 2nd. , alley north of Farneman Street to alley
south of Dean street, the Board hereby orders that on the 20th. , day of Varch 1928, this
• Board ;rill receive, open and read sealed proposals up to 10.00 A. Y. The Board further II
orders that notices of said proposals shall be published on the 8th., day of March and
on the I5th., day of March 1928 in the Oouth Bend News limes and Tribune.

Upon the recommendation of 'Um.-. F. Qualls , . the Board granted the Indiana and i,
Michigan Electric go., permission to construct a pole line in the alley west of Har- j
nett Street. as shown on blue print 28-43 as outlined in their letter of March 3rd.,
1928.
The request of F. E. 0hampaigne, Chief Electrical Inspector, to attend the
International association of 'electrical Inspectors annual meeting, was denied and
the Clerk instructed to advise Mr. Champaigne that it will be imbossib16 for him to
attend this meeting due to lack of funds appropriated for such purposes. I
City Engineer, H. G. Wray, filed plans and specifications and estiitates and the,
Board adopted the following Improvement Resolutfgns:
Improvement Resolution No.I999 for the construction of side walk on the south
side of Ong Avenue from Hoke Street to Srnsperger Street under Improvement Resolution'

Improvement Resolution No.2004 for the construction of sidewalk on the westi.
side of Haley Street from north line of Linden avenue to first alley north of Linden
.venue. (See files for copy of resolution.)
Improvement resolution No.2006 for the construction of curb and walk on Vale. J•
Avenue from south curb line of Ewing Avenue to north c-_rb line of Eckman Street. (See
files for copy of resolution.)
Improvement ?resolution No.2007 for the pavement of the alley north of Cedar
street from St. Peter ;%treet to Mot =e Dame Avenue. (See files for copy of resolution. )
Improvement Resolution 11o.2008 for the pavement of the alley west of Cottage
Grove Avenue from VanBuren Street to California Avenue. (see files for copy of resole-
tion.)
In all of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby orders that
on the 28th., day of Iq-arch 1928, this Board will meet in their office in the City Hal 3.
at 7-I5 P. 11.9 to hear and receive remonstrances from all r ersons whose property is
affected by said procee..ings and will decide whether the benefits to the property lia-
ble to be assessed for said improvements, will be equal to the estimated costs of
same as reported by the City Civil Engineer. The Board farther orders that notices
of said hearings shall be published in the South Bend 13ews Times and Tribune on the
9th. , day of March and on the I6th. day of Yarch I928, according to law, and that
notices be mailed to property owners according to law.

Board adopted the following Improvement Resolutions:

Improvement Resolution 11o. 2005 for .the pavement improvement on Eckman Otre et
from the east line of Studebaker Place 3rd., Addition to Miami Street. (see files for
copy of resolution.)
Improvement Resolution No.2009 for the pavement improvement on @alvert Street
from west line of Sampson Street to Ernsperger Street. (see files for copy of. resolution. )
Improvement Resolution Io.20I0 for the pavement imr.rovement on Calvert Street from
from Kline Street to Sampson Street. (see files for copy of resolution.) •
In all of the above named improvement resolutions, the Board hereby orders that,
on the IIth., day of April, I928, this Board will meet in their office in the City Hall:;
at 7-I5 P. I`., to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property may
be affected by said improvements and wi' ll decide whether the benefits to the several .
lots and parcels of land, liable to be assessed for said",im-nrovements, will be equal
to the estimated costs of same, as reported by the City ivil Fngineer. The 2oard
further orders that notices of said hearings hhhall be published in the South end New
Times and Tribune on the 23rd. , day of 1,breh and on the 30th. , day of T:[arch, I928,
according to law and that notices be mailed to property oz;<ners according to law.

Bids having been received for the construction of sheet asphalt pavement
on Adams, College and Brookfield Streets from Elwood Avenue to Aumbolt z>treet, in
C. R. .th.'s S�bdivision, under Improvement Resolution No.I976, the Board this 6th.01
day of 14 rch, I9nS, hereby makes a final award of said improvement to the Albert
Construction Co. , at their low bid of 46, 232.54.
Bids having been received for the construction of sewer in Lincoln 14amor
and n'.aley's Lincoln HighwW Addition under Improvement Resolution No.I982 the Board
this 6th. , day of Yarch, 1928 , hereby awards the contra, ct for said improvement to
S. 7-'. Staples at his low bid of $29,235.90.
The Board, hereby orders that during the period of construction workat
various streets for track elevation, the 1dutual Detective Agency furnish police
rotection for rounting detours, same to be under the direction of Assistant
hief of Police and the cost to be charged to Tr8fk Elevation expense.
