Upon recommendation by the Traffic Engineer, Ernest Miller, the following traffic signs were installed: Stop Signs installed on 35th Street, both sides, at Marshall Street Stop Signs installed on Gintz Avenue, southeast corner, at Colfax Avenue The Clerk of the Board is now directed to advertise for a Front End Loader for the Street Department. Bids to be taken on the 16th day of September, 1957. The Agreement made and entered into the 2nd day of January, 1957 between the City of South Bend, Indiana by and through its Board of Public Works and Safety, and German Township, of St. Joseph County, Indiana by and through its Trustee, whereas, the City of South Bend, Indiana will supply fire protection service to said Township under terms as set out in said Agreement, is approved by the Board. The Building Commissioner is authorized to notify Mrs. Hattie Hawkins, 138 S. Dundee Street and Mr. Isom Townsend, 143 N. Wellington Street to appear at the next regular Board meeting to show cause why the de- molition of the Building Commissioner has not been complied with. Also, a letter is directed to the S. and W. Fruit Market, 2025 S. Michigan Street notifying said market that a recent inspection by the Bldg. Department has revealed that you are maintaining displays for sales purposes on public property outside and in front of your property line, in violation of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Permission is now granted to the Shriner's ofganization to conduct a parade on the 27th day of November, 1957 from 4:30 P.M. till 5:30 P.M. Permission further granted subject to clearing with the Police and Street Departments. Permission is further granted to the Jewish National Home for Asmatic Children to conduct a tag day on November 1 and 2, 1957. A petition is hereby received from Mr. Carmelo Vitale, 2005 S. Michigan Street and several others petition against the vacation of the alley north of Bowman Street from Michigan Street to the alley west of Michiga Streeet. Taken under consideration until a later date. A provisional taxi cab license is hereby granted to Pasco Fleming after due consideration by the Board. The cobtract for the H�draulic Avenue and Madison Street improvements are hereby awarded to the Reed Con- struction Company, 2022 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (DST) it was so announced and the bids for the Pavement and Sewer Im- provements as advertised were opened and read aloud. Pro6fs of publication having appeared in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with an affidavit signed by Ru McManon were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. Inasmuch as Lots 13, 142 159 162 17, and 18 of Peak's Addition is within the city limits of the City of South Bend, Indiana and without jurisdiction of the St. Joseph County Planning Commission the Board recommends that the County Planning Commission does not at this time rezone any portion of Lot 17 which is in county zoning. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2863, 1957 The hearing scheduled for this date with reference to abovenamed Vacation Resolution will be continued until Monday, September 9, 1957. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2864, 1957 This being the date set, hearing was held on the Resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of Public Works for the vacation of 1. Bryan Street from the East line of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 748 feet to the easterly line of Lot 265 extended southerly across said Bryan Street. 2. An alley 14 feet in width running in a northerly and southerly direction from the north line of Beale Street north to the south line of an alley running easterly and westerly between the eastline of Cushing Street and the St. Joseph River, which said alley is bounded on the West by the easterly line of Lots numbered 252, 259, and 267 in Northwest Third Addition and which said alley is bounded on the East by the westerly line of Lots 251, 260, and 266 of part of Northwest Third Plat. 3. An alley, being 14 feet in width east and west, running north and south from the north line of an alley running east and west between Beale Street and Bryan Street northerly to the South line of an alley which runs in an easterly and westerly direction between the east line of Cushing Street and the St. Joseph River, which said alley being vacated is bounded on the west by the east line of Lots 261, and 266 in Northwest Third Addition and on the east by the west line of Lots 261 and 265 of Northwest Third Plat. 4.
