NOTICE OF HEARING SPECIAL BENEFITS ON STREET IMPROVEMENT
Notice is hereby given, that the following Street improvement has been completed and the general character
of the Improvement, the street, alley or public place on which it has been made, and the terminal paints
thereof, are as follows:
Campeau Street from approximately 135 feet '`Vest of Jacob Street,
East to Jacob Street by constructing a local sewer.
• There is on file in the Office of the City Controller of the City of South Bend, Indiana, an assessment
roll with the names of the, owners and description of property subject to be assessed with the amount of
j�the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the Office of the City Controller.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, at the Office of theBoard in said City,'will on the
17th day of June, 1957, at 10:00 A.M. (DST) receive and hear remonstrances against their property respect-
ively, on said roll and will determine the question as to wheter such lots, or tracts of land, ahve been
or will be benefited by said Improvement to the amounts named on said roll, or is greater or less than tha
named on said roll or in any sum. At which place and time all owners of such real estate may attend in
person or by representative and be heard.

. An agreement, made and entered into this 31d day of June, 1957, by and between the City of South Bend,
Indiana, acting by and through its Board of Public Viorks and Safety and Clyde E. Williams & Associates,
IInc. of South Bend and Indianapolis, Indiana for the improvement of Jefferson Boulevard from Ironwood
` Drive to 130 feet west of Twenty -Sixth Street is hereby approved by the Board.

Excavation bonds were approved for Rieth Riley Construction Company.
The monthly report of the Building Department for May, 1957 as submitted by Verner L. Lane is hereby
approved and placed and file in the office of the Board of PublicWorks and Safety.
The bids for Health Department sedans will be re -advertised and bids received on the 24th day of June,
1957.
H. H. Verkler requests approval for application for Permit to occupy all of the 1st alley West of Main
Street from Madison Street to 1st alley South of Madison Street from date to January 19 1958 during the
construction of building for 1st Methodist Church. Permit granted subjet to submitting to the City of
South Bend indemnity for liability and public property.

Mr. Hamilit;Wof the Eagles organization appeared before the Board and requested permission to conduct a
parade on September 28, 1957 at 3 P.M. Permission granted. Route of parade to be submitted to the Board
prior to said date.
A committee of the American Bible Workers, Inc. appeared before the Board requesting permission to solicit,
in the City of South Bend for funds. Permission is hereby denied subject to the fact that this organizatio,'
is not a local organization and the Board informs said committee that they must first establish a local gr(�
before solicitftion in said City will be approved. 11
A contract for the construction for sewer as submitted to the Board by Anderson and Wattles, Attorneys &
Counsellors, in connection with the real estate lying on either side of Dorwood Drive and on the East side)
of Rosemary Lane, more particularly described as Lots Numbered One (1) to Thirteen (13), both inclusive,
in Coquillard Park Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana to construct a sewer on Dorwood Drive and
Rosemay Lane, extending from the center line of Ironwood Drive West for a distance of (644) feet and north',
along Rosemary Lane for a distance of 112 feet is hereby approved by the Board this loth day of June, 195743

CITY CIVIL ENGINEER'S RECCMMENDATION
Referring to the Petition of Valentine Hoffman and 5 others for the improvement of Vassar Avenue from Coll
to Brookfield by constructing a permanent type pavements I would recommend that the petition be approve.d

Traffic signs were installed on the first three meters south of Jefferson Street on Main Street in front
U. S. Post Office, signs being 1112 minute time limit".
The School City of South Bend hereby petitions for the paving of Cushing Street and installation of curbs
and public walks adjacent to the Edythe J. Brown School. Petition referred to the City Engineer for in-
vestigation and recommendation.
A request regarding that semi -trucks be prohibited from using Wilber Street from Lincolnway West to Elwood
Street as referred to the Board by the Council is hereby referred back to the Council subject to the fact
that the Board no longer has jurisdiction concerning such petitions.
Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner submitted to the Board a proposed amendment to the Building Code
of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Accepted and approved by the Board of Public Works and now referred
to the City Council for final approval.
South Bend Parking Company, Inc. hereby submits a petition to the Board for approval and if said petition
is granted , petitioner will enter into a lease with Vassar Realty Company, under the terms of which
lease petitioner, as lessee, will lease from Vassar Realty Company, as lessor, the real estate in'the Cit)
of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana more particulary described as follows:
A parcel of land approximately 22 feet in width from north to south by 165 feet in depth from
east to west which lies on the east side of the 100 block of North Michigan Street and is bound-
ed on the north by the first alley north of and parallel to East Washington Street.
The Board now approves above -mentioned petition and is placed on file in theobffice of the Board of Publi(
Works and Safety.
The bids for the Street Department vehicle and distributor are hereby awarded to the followings
